club pros playing in club events - Shot Talk

In our local men's club it has been our practice to let the club pro and a couple of teaching pros play on our playdays but not our tournaments. Some members have questioned this practice and I was wondering what other clubs do and if there are guidelines for this sort of things.

At my course and probably every other course in Scotland, a pro is a pro. They have to play in professional competitions. We don`t let them play in our competitions, because they`re amateur competitions...

I guess I see nothing wrong with them being allowed to play in the event, as long as they are not part of any prize structure, or have any kind of impact on any competition that may take place. I would think that if it is a competitive event, the pro's should have an ethical dilemma to partake in the event.
