Stiffness choice, quickly please :)

Ok, i am buying a new iron set. I plan on buying a Nike NDS set, i have gone to dicks today and used the launch monitor. My readings were around 80-90 mph with a 6iron. I play a stiff driver and such. I'm not sure what the stiffness was that i was hitting today, but instead of paying 400 at dicks, i found the same clubs for 319 online. However, they only have uniflex shafts, on the dicks website it says they have the same. Now, is it worth the extra 80 dollars to try and find some stiff shafts or will uniflex do me well? Whatever i was hitting today was a pretty nice set, 6iron consistantly around 200. I hope i can find what i need from you guys.

I don't know much about Uniflex but you will save a good amount by buying off Ebay. If you are swinging that hard (which is very hard, I swing hard and barely hit a 5iron 200) you may want something closer to an Xflex. You could probably save $75 and get much better shafts in them on Ebay.

Uniflex is an attempt to cover all aspects of the stiffness range from regular to firm to stiff. Basically, the harder you swing, the stiffer the shaft will "play".

If you were hitting those at Dicks, I'm sure it's the same setup online.

You're pretty much in line for a regular set based on SS. And, if you were hitting them well at Dicks, I'd say you're on target.

I'm so glad Dick's didn't charge you for the use of their launch monitor. Why should they get your business? Just because they've invested the money to have a selection of clubs, tools, and trained salespeople to help you make an informed decision? Do they think that means anything? How dumb is that? Don't they realize that their job is to give away free advice and equipment testing so that we can go buy stuff cheaper elsewhere?

These retailers are so greedy.

I'm just glad there is a place like good 'ol Dick's Sports where I can get all my golf advice from a guy making $8.15/hr. They really have done the market some good by operating at a 3% net profit to sales ratio, forcing smaller shops out of business and having control over pricing from manufacturer's to the point of having thier own lines of clubs. I've bought some tees, a grip and some lead tape from them but that's about all they'll get from me.

Alright, i have accually went to dicks to buy them now, i have always liked their customer service. The extra $90 was worth it to deal with someone face to face and know i can always return and exchange with no questions asked. But, for the record, they dont make commision, and dicks isnt going out of buisness anytime soon
