Worst two 9's together that you've ever had

The thread by Sling about "Don't tell me the score" got me thinking about a round I had last year.

Front 9, -1 with 8 putts. Just smoking it.

Back 9, +14 with 3 lost balls. Couldn't hit a fairway or green to save my life.

I love this game!

I think the worst may have been a round last year when my back nine was 10 strokes higher than the front. 2 over, then 12 over.

If you're going to have a bad 9, always have it be the front I say. It's a real downer when you start out strong, and finish atrociously.

My largest front and back differential is 10 I believe (my back is usually better than my front in these cases). I used to see that happen alot when I started playing.

One set of scores that stands out in my mind is a pair of rounds I had here at a local links course. I went on a Friday afternoon and shot 112 with 13 lost balls. It was UGLY (in all caps). I had a chat with the pro during the following week about how to play the course. The next Friday I went out and shot 90 on the same course. I learned a great deal about the importance of course management and how to properly attack a golf course.

I remember it very well, from 4 years ago.

It started the day before with my Best 18 ever - 75 as a 15 handicap, in the first round of a 2 day club championship where I used to belong. I Shot it one other time

This tied me for 4th in the standings after day 1, 3 strokes back
I started the 2nd day by hitting 2 balls OB on the first hole for a 9. Two in the water on the second hole for an 8. Finished the Front nine with a 62. My worst nine hole score that I can remember since my first week playing.

I came back and shot a 33 on the back nine, 2 under, which was the best 9 hole score I have posted, to finish with a 95. For a difference of 29.

I agree. Doing good on the front and tanking the back is enough to make me consider putting the clubs away for a couple weeks. Where as finishing on a good nine makes me want to go back out soon. I have done the opposite twice in the last month, one shooting a 40 on the front. Knowing that I almost always shoot a couple better on the back I really had thoughts of breaking 80 for the first time on a course other than my old home course, followed it up with a 54 on the back. Possibly as pissed off as I have ever been on a golf course, and really let it get to me. One of the few times I ever thought about the previous hole after it was over. I darn near stopped playing after 15.

Worst set of nines, my first tournament ever, I had been golfing for about 6 months and shot a career high 119.

Worst varation, a few months later, a fifty two on the front and a forty on the back.

last year's high school regionals.

+2 38 on the front, the best 9 i've ever played. every fairway and just 1 missed green.

53 on the back, the worst nine i've played since i really got serious about the game.

probably the the worst i've ever felt about myself as a person, i mean an absolute just killer blow to my psyche, i don't think i've been the same on the course since...

53? Wow. No offense.

Why the big number? Did it just snowball?

Honestly, Gun, the best part about golf is the next shot, not the last one. Because you never know what's gonna happen.

We've all been there. Hell, just look at this thread! LOL...

do that for 3 1/2 months and you'll be about where i'm at now....

snowballing is an understatement, all i needed to do was shoot 44 and i would've qualified for state...didn't know that at the time, but i just lost everything...i got to the tenth tee after the most incredible nine holes i've ever played and just went blank, the rest was just a bloody mess, i was ready to quit golf for good by about the 16th hole, i just couldn't believe how big i blew it.

i started back from scratch, took a couple lessons, and am right about back to where i was at the end of last year.

this year, its personal, i have to do this to prove to myself that i really can go out and make it happen, and that last year was just a fluke.

39- 50, it was horrible! Every shot was perfect then got the "shanks" and fell apart.

sorry for the thread jack here, but this year whats the difference between your best and worst 18? mines 26 strokes (74,100) i havent shot in the 90s all year. just a 52,48 for a 100! it was in rain and hail, with major wind at 5* C. i just wanted to get done so i didnt do any practise swings or think about anything after the first 5 holes. it was FREEZING.

This year, or ever?

This year, it's about 12. 72 and 84.
