Unhappy Lost Clubs - More than you thnk!

I recently lost an old wedge from my previous set at a local course whch I have already replaced. I did have one of those "If found please return to" labels on it, but after two weeks, no luck.

I stopped at the course yesterday morning as I had a call to make right down the street from it, hoping that it might show up, but unfortunatley, no luck.

What I was surprised to see was their list of lost clubs. The list was 1-1/2 pages long, and that only went back to July 1st! I wonder how many clubs are lost on one course in a years time?

The course I play at has 3 garbage cans full, they label them by the month. If no one claims them after 90 days that can goes to First Tee program. To help out the kids that need clubs, either by club going directly into one of their bags or sale of item proceeds going to First Tee. Every month in the summer there are at least 20 clubs in each can, mostly wedges and putters, left around the greens.

wow.. that's an awesome idea. I bet a lot of courses get missing wedges and other clubs. Donating them after 90 days old would be a great idea for all of the courses to adopt.

I found a Yes! Putter cover on the 1st tee once. I thought about keeping it because i've got a putter it would fit, but decided not to and put it in lost property.

My mate found a 6 iron on the edge of a green once. He kept it in his bag, intending to put it in lost property after the round. On the next hole, his ball landed on a cart path, which you weren't allowed to drop from. You should have seen the sparks.

It's classed as an "integral part of the course" so you've got to play from it.

You're an Aussie yes? That's not right, mate!

I've found a couple clubs, I check in with the group in front, if it's not there to thee pro shop they go!

Best personal story was my mom's 300 dollar watch fell off(b-day gift from my sister), and a kid about 12 ran up and gave it to her. So I gave the chap two sleeves of One Platinums, all I had that was worth it really, but he seemed to like em.

I've literally had my heart go into my throat a few times when one of my irons was just "hiding" behind a headcover. This is one more reason why I walk and carry my bag, it's always right there. The only time I ever left a club was when I was in a cart for 9 holes once. It was my brand new Mizuno 54 and thankfully the guys behind me grabbed it for me.

I've been really lucky about this.. Ive left my wedge behind maybe 2 or 3 times before.. and thankfully, the people behind me have grabbed it for me every time.. once they came forward to give it to me. The others I went back for it and they had grabbed it for me.
