secrets to longer drives

Darrell Klasser makes some outrageous claims about secrets to longer drives. Has anyone actually subscribed to his promotions. and if so, what were the results?

Who cares about longer drives, I want to know the secret to making longer putts. (you're about to tell us all about Darrell anyway, huh?).

Tiger was once asked this very question, (the secret to longer drives) his reply... "Swing harder". I love that one, bout sums it up though.

Only Tiger can pull that one off.
Do you know of anyone that had subcribed to any of these "secret" snake oil distance programs?

Agreed. However, if you really want to hit a consistent long ball, working on overall body strength(especially the legs) will have the best results. Who was it that said "The best drives I ever hit felt so smooth and easy"

If you want to get specific, more than just over body strength, to increase your clubhead speed requires more torque, which will come from a faster swing.

And to generate a faster swing work on improving the strength of the core region of your body; the groin, abs, and chest.

Better flexibility will help you produce a better swing. Flexibility improves your ability to make a bigger backswing, which also gives you more time to make the club move faster!

I think if anyone TIGER has proven how much fitness - especially flexibility - plays a big role in driving long.

Good luck!

ok I'll bite who said it. It looks like you're trying to answer your own question. Do you know anyone that has tried any snake oil program???
I did try a colonic, but that was just a pain in the butt.

Rockford35 will become famous soon enough
Swing like this:

Notice in this video:

1) the lack of movement in Tiger's head

2) how he coils around his spine. It moves so little. If you can get it in your head that you rotate around a "pole" of your spine and head, you'll hit it farther.

3) notice how high the ball is teed up. Not with the equator of the ball at the top of the clubface, but 1/4 of the ball over the top of the clubface. This way, you catch it squarer, lowering your launch just enough to gain distance.

Can't say that I do. I have no problem with distance. My 104-108mph swing procudes 264-273yds. carry when hit on the sweet spot. I often tee off with a 4 wood and still end up furthest a lot of the time (accuracy/placement of a 235-240yd. shot). Anything tight and less than about 380 I'll just hit a 5iron draw out to a little over 200 dead center and come at it with 7iron. Distance is highly overrated.... unless you have none to begin with.(I keep mine in back pocket and use it sparingly) There pretty well isn't a par 4 I'll play in my lifetime I can't reach in 2 without even teeing off driver. As far as par 5's, well, that's why they're par 5's.

P.S. The secret to distance is A) maximizing your potential with a solid swing and a wide arc. (see your local pro for a few lessons) B) Finding the correct shaft/head combo including shaft length, head loft, shaft kick-stiffness, tip and head forgiveness. (see your local professional clubfitter). - Free advice but I do take donations.

Micheal Jordan asked Tiger one day during a very windy round of golf; "how do i keep it under the wind without losing distance like you do Tiger?", Tiger replies by saying; "just hit it like i do".

You can swing easy and hit hard at the same time, the key being a full body release.
