Thread: Interesting note on the Canadian Open..

Interesting note on the Canadian Open..

I'm watching the sports highlights tonight (on TSN, basically Canada's largest sports channel), they go like this:

    Football (CFL)
    Football (NFL)
    Baseball (Blue Jays...big whoop)
    Canadian Open
    More NFL

Interesting that the CDN Open is so far down the list. I'm curious as to why. No big names? No sponsor? No interest because of no names?

The CFL game was on TSN's network this afternoon, so that could be one reason. But why show NFL before your local golf Open?

THIS is another reason why this tournament will NEVER crawl out of the gutter that it is in. It's pretty sad.:(

I'm in the same boat you are, my 49er glory days are long gone, and I dont see any coming anytime soon.

I watched it too...it was on ESPN here which is big time coverage. The course was impressive and surprisingly hilly...I remember one hole with a deep gulch.

Frankly, I believe part of the low ratings within the country is you need to get some contenders from Canada on the leaderboard...there were about 10-12 Canucks in the field but nobody challenged. I think if Ames or Weir or one of the others were in contention, the interest would be huge.

There were several spots run by the RCGA on their efforts to advance golf...

I thought that course looked like it would be fun to play. Thats not the same course that Tiger hit "the 6 iron" though is it?

    I'm not certain...

I usually watch whatever golf is on. Because i'm from Scotland, we don't get that many golf tournaments covered. The majors are on BBC and maybe 1 other tournament every 1-2 weeks is shown, unless Tiger's playing in it.

No it isn't. This was Hamilton G&CC, Tiger hit the 6 iron miracle at Glen Abbey.
