GolfTec

Has anyone taken lessons from GolfTec? www.golftec.com I know its not in all states yet. For Father's Day this year I was given a gift card for an initial 1 hour evaluation. I finally got around to doing the evaluation the other night. It all takes place indoors. You are strapped to some sensors and you hit balls in a room with front and back cameras and then the pro evaluates your swings on a computer, makes comparisons with the swings of pros and offers tips and suggestions. The hour went very fast. They record the entire lesson and you can then access it via the web to review, etc. I see some positives to it (especially over the winter here in NJ), but its incredibly expensive and you never get to see ball flight. They made a soft sell pitch to get me to sign up for a package but I said I'd think about it some more. Has anyone had success with this service?? Any other comments on this?

Indoor sucks.
Having your swing analyzed by a computer is even more suckier. It proves they can't teach.

I was seriously considering going to Golftec also but it is just too expensive and I couldn't justify the cost. Instead I got on the site for V1 software, the program that most video analysis is done on and found a local pro. I believe that is the same software that Golftec uses. My pro uses video on every lesson outdoors and is very reasonable. We start with a video of a couple full swings to see if I have progressed through the things that we worked on last time. Then we will work on the next issue (there is always something). He charges me $40 / half hour but we usually go closer to 45 minutes. I bought a six lesson package for $220 which I thought was reasonable but doing a lesson every week still gets expensive.

I said this on a previous post but all pros are not created equal. Find one that has a proven track record of success and ask who they have worked with ie: pros, NCAA, etc.
