I know this has been posted previously...I think by IG.
After reading a post about this fantastic book, I got a used copy on Amazon for $4. I have been reading it now for a couple of weeks. And frankly, rather that wanting to read it as fast as possible, taking only a few pages a day, right before bed.
The author Mark Frost did a superb job of writing the book and it reads like a fine novel. Even non-golfers would enjoy this book about the rise of modern golf and the emergence of the first great stars from the UK and US. It provides great historical background for students of the game and explains the very early Open Championships, who won them and how the competition was organized and staged.
And ultimately the book is the story of the 1913 US Open and the great Harry Vardon, his close friend Ted Ray and the emergence of Francis Ouimet and other American players.
For $4 - you will not find a better, more entertaining book and it will educate you on the rise of golf at the same time....
