Talking Company outing Friday

We had our company outing on Friday. Played a 2-man scramble (only 12 of us went out). I am recovering from some surgery, so was only able to swing back to around 10 o'clock, and couldn't make my normal "swipe" at the ball...

And not surprisingly, I was hitting it just fine. First few holes was around one club shorter, but by the third or fourth I was hitting just as far as normal. One thing that I had implemented just for fun was the "a. j. bonar magic move". Not really magic, but focusing on releasing the clubhead through impact. And not surprisingly, no slices for the entire round. In fact I was producing several very nice draws.

On one par 3, 150 downhill, I hit a beautiful easy 8i and drew it to within 3 feet of the hole.

On 18, hit a smoking draw with the driver, 283 yards.

The other beautiful thing was my putting. Only third time out with the new putter, but I was sinking a lot of putts. Made two birdie putts of 25+ feet, and made just about everything within 10 feet. It felt great!

Next up - Kiele course at Kauai Lagoons on Oct. 11 (www.kauailagoons.com)

Very nice!

Perhaps we learned something from the shorter swing?

I think that I learned you don't necessarily need a long backswing to generate power, and that my control and timing was much better when I wasn't trying to swing back as far as possible...

Also, we proved once again that a smooth, easy swing can hit just as well, if not better, than a jerky, hard swing...

And, I proved that I can, in fact, bag a few birdies!

Excellent! You're going to start bagging even more birdies.
