Tiger Woods switching from Butch Harmon

I had a conversation with a friend of mine and we were debating as to why Tiger left Butch Harmon. Anyone have any insights? What is different with his new swing?

Well, according to Mr. Harmon it was mainly that he and Tiger had exhausted their relationship.

Good question...I have never heard what the paticular reason was, but
a few years ago on the Dan Patrick show, Dan made it sound that Butch did something to irritate Tiger.

Can't remember exactly where I read it, but a clash of major egos sounded quite plausible to me!

Definitely a case of psychosis/hypochondria instilled in him by his dad.

Those sound like the two major arguments I heard

1) Two strong egos
2) Butch wouldn't (not couldn't) provide the swing change Tiger was after

I think they parted ways because Tiger pretty much ruined his left knee using Butch's swing, and wanted a swing to last him for the future. Therefore he changed.

I think old Butch was taking a little to much credit for Tiger's success, and for a while after the change it looked like maybe Butch was on to something. Now it is very apparent that that ship has sailed.

I think the last 2 posts were dead on. Tiger could be taught by my local pro and still be the best in the game... he is just that good.

I saw an interview with tiger where he said there split up occured because he wanted to change his swing. He said there was a hitch in his swing added to give him more power when he was younger. He said that as he gets older he would of course begin to lose his reflexs and would not be able to continue to play at a high level. He wanted a swing that would last him into his later years and butch didn't agree with it.
