I need some ideas

Okay, golf in Wisconsin (for me) ends this week as pheasant hunting opens Saturday. My big problem this summer (with the driver) was getting my right hand to release on a faster swing (coming through with a slightly open club face and resulting slice). I've got to get some practice routines for this winter to get this fixed. See my avatar. Something on this order where I can get the right side through faster.

Got any good things to practice over the long Wisconsin winter months?

A Whippy Tempomaster driver.

Really, WBL, this thing is great. Just swinging it without hitting a ball will help, learning to hit a ball with it is even better.

$130 for that thing? How about a "cheap" way to practice, LOL...

$130 is cheaper than buying 4 new drivers next season.

Do you want good or do you want cheap?

Good and cheap is an oxymoron. Kinda like honest politician.

But not NEARLY as much fun!

WBL, building a net in my garage has been one of the best things I've done to scratch the late night itch of a swing move that I suddenly feel like developing.

Now that would be cool except my garage isn't heated and swinging a golf club in the middle of winter at -30 F all bundled up probably wouldn't help me much. Those heavy clothes really restrict your swing!!!

I just nudge the wife in bed when I feel like developing a swing to scratch a late night itch....usually works

Seriously, the Whipmaster thingy probably would be a good idea. Or there is that one iron-type club that has a break point, ideally in your swing it wouldn't bend at all. Maybe that.

I hate touting training devices - but one of my golf buddies has Leadbetters Swing Setter which develops swing plane, grip, tempo and release. He doesn't leave home without it ...

Get an impact bag ($20). Put it about two feet down the line of your swing plane. Swing the driver (slowly). Focus on hitting the bag with the toe of the club.

I'm pretty happy with this device for helping out my swing considerably.

I also wanted to ask a question about the GRIP in regard to getting the club face to close on a faster swing. If I were to try to hit a "draw" I rotate my right hand to the right more (palm up more), correct? It seems like this causes me to hit a slice because it seems to lock up my wrist. I've been rotating my hand to the left to get rid of the slice. I want to fix any grip problems this winter also so let me know what your thoughts are on that. I've got all the info on a proper grip so no need to go down to basics.

When I used to play softball I had an aluminum bat with a heavy wood handle and very light aluminum barrel (not legal anymore) and I could poke them with it. I'm also going to try some lead tape "above" my hands at the end of the grip to see if that will help me close the face easier (leverage effect?). Comments?
