Diffrent clubs make a diffrence in long ball distance?

Hey, whats up everyone. Im new here and wanted to know if diffrent clubs make a diffrence in driving distance or not? I have a cheap 39.99 walmart club and I drive it around 230-250 on average. Is it possible to get a club that increases this average by 50 yds? Ive read alot of conflicting reports on this. Anyone know? Thanks

Distance costs money....

How much do you want to spend?

BTW, Sling, you got a toothpick?

It's located in his super secret lair, on his super secret property, and guarded by a super secret weapon.

longdriver,
This is quite a coincidence. Not too long ago there was another guy on here using equipment similar to yours that was interested in driving the ball really, really far. I was trying to help him out in that thread; but, unfortunately, the thread was closed before any positive results could be realized.

Anyway, in summary, I was telling him about a driver that I bought from a pawnshop that worked great. I only paid $5 for the club. It doesn't look too good, but it will send the ball way, way out there. The guy at the pawnshop said all I need is a little sandpaper to make it look better, since it has a wooden head. He told me they don't make clubs like this anymore. According to him, the companies phased out the wooden heads when TV started showing golf matches. He said these clubs made the ball move so fast that the cameras couldn't follow them.

I don't know much about golf; but I think this guy really knows his stuff. He is a golfer himself; and he told me that he plays with 5 handicaps. You have to respect somebody that would play with pain like that. Heck, I have a cousin that quit the game; and he only has one handicap. He hurt himself the first time he played because of a misunderstanding about how to use the ball washer on the first tee. Technically, I suppose you might say he has two handicaps.

My cousin is trying to sue the golf course owners. He said, since they made him wear his Sunday shirt with the collar and all; he just figured they would get mad if he played without being clean all over. Well, anyway, he gave up golf; because he says it hurts bad when he hits the ball. My other cousins and I told him not to worry about it: because it's going to be a long time before he ever hits anything again. We also told him that he probably wouldn't be a very good golfer anyway; because it just not in his jeans. (That's just a little play on words we use to make him mad.)

We don't try to make him mad because we are cruel or anything like that...it's just so dadgum funny when he starts yelling at us in that little squeaky voice of his.

Well, I kind of got off the subject. The point I wanted to make is that if that driver of yours doesn't work out, I would be glad to check with my cousin to see if he wants to sell his driver. I'm afraid I can't help you with any other equipment though...ain't no way I'm going to ask him if he has any extra balls.

bames,
I am retired, my wife passed away three years ago, and I live alone so I do have quite a bit of free time. I manage to stay pretty busy during the day.
Today I went to the dentist for a new crown on a tooth, got a haircut, and played 18 holes of golf when I got home.

The nights do get a little bit boring, though. My cousin and I used to go out nights and chase women; but he doesn't seem interested in that anymore.

twogreen, thank goodness for golf eh! Lesser men would have picked up a habit much worse, maybe less expensive, but much worse! As long as you can produce responses like the last then more power to you.

Sorry to haer that twogreen, and all the chuckling from your first post just died away.

Anyway, the first post was great, very informative and will help my next club choice for sure.

Hey Jeff, never let the chuckles die out completely...life without humor is just existence.

The positives in my life far outweigh the negatives. I have two great sons, good friends, excellent health, comfortable retirement income, a house on a golf course, a GTO that usually does pretty well at the drag races, two very spoiled pets; and, most importantly, the time to enjoy all of my blessings.

The biggest negative right now is a 3W that has a mind of its' own...but, I'm talking to my buddy at the pawn shop about that.

That's an excellent attitude to have, recently losing a family member myself it does help a lot to just look at what you do have.
