Display racks for vintage iron sets

Does anyone have a woodworking plan for some simple yet elegant racks to display sets of irons?

Or just a sketch?

I'm pretty good at woodworking but terrible at creative design.

I'm thinking of something that would hang on the wall rather than a floorstander, and would hold 10-12 irons per set. The simplest would be a wooden square with pegs down both vertical sides, and the clubs would rest on the pegs horizontally, one beneath the other, alternating direction.

Any other ideas?

Don't know about iron racks but search "arrow holders (or racks)" and see what comes up.

Are you looking for something like this? http://cgi.ebay.com/Wood-golf-DISPLA...QQcmdZViewItem

I don't think it would be that hard to copy. Also you could use long golf tees to hold the clubs instead of the pegs he used. Just my 2 cents.

I made a gun rack that would actually work great for clubs, I'll go dig it out of the closet.

Personally I think the racks that golf shops use to display their clubs are the best. They are minimal by design, fan the clubs out nicely and although they are plastic I am certain you could make a wooden version pretty easily.

This is nice too.

I bought a Karate Sword Display rack to hold putters. Has 8 slots & cost me about $40 shipped.

Oh come on, we all have our faults.

I buy 'em, play with 'em, decide I can't putt worth a darn & sell or trade the things so I can get another. Only 3 keepers in the bunch, & they're living on borrowed time. Not that big a deal.

Psssst - hey buddy, Wanna buy a putter? Previously owned by a little old lady that only played mini-golf.

There are at least 2 headcovers in there that are worth more than any putter any of the shottalk membership possess.

The rack would work well for Doc's Irons. Another thing I've seen is a floor standing pool cue rack.

Those headcovers could double up as Snow Boots for leprechauns!! Keeping one's toes toasty.

That's what I see. How in "whatever supreme deity's name you believe in" can a freakin' HEADCOVER be worth more than a putter?

Humans are stupid.
