Winter Deal?

How does this sound? The course I played at today is one of the best maintained public courses, especially through the winter. Also they have "temp tees" set up for winter but never "temp greens". They have a deal starting Nov. 1st through March 31st, $275 unlimited golf. Now I pay $22 but I think it drops to $20, winter rates. Good deal? Check Farmers Almanac?

If you play more than one time a week it would be. If not, you're better off just paying the $20 green fee.

Yeah the question is whether or not it will snow a lot or get below freezing a whole lot. I have a ton of balls saved up so I think it would double as my "range costs" as well. I played this way with 3 balls last winter. Tee 3, pick 2, hit 2 pick one, or play 2 all the way. I live exactly 1 mile from the course and my job will slow down over the winter. I can expect 3 to 4 days off a week, whether the weather is decent is really a crapshoot.

Living in RI, it really would be a crap shoot. If that type of deal were down here I'd be all over it. We play all winter here since even in January and February we won't have many days where it will be below 40-45*F for more than 3 or 4 days in a row. Only once in the last couple of years has it snowed bad enough to where I missed a whole week of golf waiting for it all to melt.

Out here that would be awesome!

Wish there were deals like that here, but in RI, I'd be wary.

Depends on the course, and what will cause them to close. Up here the thought of being able to play the 14 rounds you would need to play to break even makes the price sound kind of steep to me. What is the cost of a full membership? May be worth checking out as they would likely give the rest of this year free.

A course up here does something similar. They sell 12 rounds for $360, which can be given to friend or family as well, being as it was not my home course, it would have me most of the year to use them up. Between my wife and I, and our friends we went through two books in a year.

An adantage to the membership is that you can go play a few holes whenever you want without worrying about a green fee. Since you're so close that might help you get your money's worth.

We don't really have winter so I don't know how big a risk you're taking on that.
