Hardest courses in the world

Our local venue was just added to the list of "Hardest courses in the world" by www.irongolf.com I have no idea what the credibility of this site is, nor how they select the courses. You can view our local track at www.colberthills.com
Has anyone here played any of the courses listed? If so, was it difficult enough to be rated as one of the toughest in the world?

No way, I have played la quinta before (stadium) and it is not harder than Spanish Bay, and Pasatiempo blows them all away. The slope rating is a good way to determine the difficulty of a course but some of the ratings are not up to date.

I am not buying, 2 of the courses listed are in Wisconsin, and from what I have discerned, Wisconsin is full of pitch and putts.

Davebud
Yeah, try Black Wolf Run once or Whistling Straits. Don't go by the courses I play...

Wow. 3 of them are in New England. I'll have to look into the one in CT.

Here's a previous post about a course with a slope of 150.

Does slope go this high?

I've played Whistling Straits (slope 151) and Blackwolf Run (slope 148). Both Spyglass (slope 148) and TPC-Sawgrass (slope 149) were more difficult, IMO. Sawgrass was the hardest course I've ever played, if only because the penalty for missing your target was so great.

Of course, I played none of them from the tips, and I'm sure that makes a difference in their relative slope ratings.

I've heard the Bay course at the Bluewater Bay resort in Niceville, FL is a tough course, but it's rated 142 from the tips. The Irongolf site says that any course on it's list must be rated 150 or higher. So....?????

This course has to be the hardest most underated course with a slope of 136. The pro there said that when Jack Nicklaus played there he never broke 80 and would lose a boat load of balls. If you shoot par on this course then you have serious game. Check out hole number 4 @ 626, I have actually eagled that hole since it is downhill it plays about 560 yards but the tee shot is difficult if you cant make to the down slope on your drive where it will roll for about 50 yards you are screwed. http://www.bayonetblackhorse.com , its the boyonet course.

You mean I "had" the bucks. Besides, your annual driver budget costs than all those courses combined...

Shoot, Warbird could open his own course under his driver budget.
