Links 2001 vs Links 2003 computer game

A friend of ours has given us the Links 2001 computer golf game. Is there a huge difference from the Links 2003?

Yes. The 2003 game allowed higher resolution textures for the course designer, so the courses look incredibly better. It also added the Real Time Swing, which ties your swing action to the mouse movement for more realistic gameplay. There are a number of other changes, and more still to come, as a few of the users are working on some updates for the game. A couple of years ago a user designed patch fixed some bugs that Microsoft chose to ignore, and now the same group is working on some other additions to the game. I am loosely associated with that group, and will likely get to do some beta testing of the new changes.

For me, there is no comparison... Links 2003 is head and shoulders above 2001.

2003 is definately worth the $5 or so that you would spend over a free copy of 2001, assuming you plan on playing it a significant amount.

Outside of what fourputt mentioned, there are also a ton more courses for download, which in it self would be enough for me. I did own both, although I bought 2003 when it came out and was happy to get it at a mismarked price of $29 when it ran around $49 or $59. I miss that store where I used to live, the guy toting the price gun must have been on something all the time. Then when you went to the register, they didn't even know the difference, and I wouldn't have pushed it had he said it was wrong. I remember getting the original Half Life when it first came out for $9.99, and they were oblivious that the top selling game on the market was going out the door at under $10.

At the time I remember it being well worth the money for the differences at that price.
