Golf Hates Me.

Ive come to that conclusion. It's the ONLY explanation why I missed that putt...

Today was my first round in about at least a month, beautiful day, around 5*. Got out to try and squeeze out 18, and I did, opened the round birdie, par, birdie. Ended the front -2. Coming around the back made another birdie, bogey birdie through the back coming into 18, so im -1 and im 14 ft away from breaking 70 (par 71, but ive nvr broken 70).

I LEFT THE PUTT 3 INCHES SHORT! OMG, stupid golf... not complaining about the -1 round of 70, but DAMMIT! The only goal of the year i didnt get was to break 70! urggggg..... Well at least my most likely last round of the year was a good one.

Brought my handicap down though, which is sweet.

One round won't bring your handicap down, sorry. Especially if you're playing to a 1.1. Unless you guys out in BC have some sort of "west coast" handicap system.

If you use a true handicap system, you need consistent good or poor golf to make it fluctuate. One bad or good round isn't going to put you up top or into the cellar.

Umm... I shot back to back 77's and dropped 2 strokes off my cap. Those 77's bumped out an 87 and an 89 in my 10 best. So I would think that if you have a handicap, shooting 1 under would drop it.

In your defense though, Rock, how can you be entering scores? Our season ended almost 2 months ago....

I was using my SC of course.

Ezra, I enter scores according to competitiveness or real golf, I determine before my round if im playing to compete/post or if im just dropping balls, practising or hacking around with friends. Since this was my first true round in monthes and the course was in good condition, i beared down and played true. Normally i would never even consider posting a round at this point in the year, but ive been practising so much and this was a good test for me for a round out of nowhere.

Rock, I use the RCGA handicap system, it makes perfect sense, and its not like it knocked a lot off my handicap, just from 1.4 to 1.1. It takes your top 10 out of your most recent 20 scores, the 20th score before i entered this one was a +2 that was counting for my handicap (it was the 10th counting score), so because this score is one of my better ones, it knocked that one out of 10th and now it's in my 10 (just good timing it was 20th also).

Another thing when someone says that they have a blowup round it can or cannot affect them on this system, it just depends on wat your 20th score is if its counting towards your handicap or not. If you have an under par round as your 20th, its going to knock that score off, so depending on if that was maybe your career round, your handicap will obv go up, but if that was some other crap round that isnt counting towards your handicap, then it wont matter at all.

I know how you feel. For a year, I had shot a 34 12 times and never gotten lower. I'd be like 4 under or 3 under going into the last 2 holes half the times, and always screw it up. It drove me mad!!! Finally, I got it off my back and got the 33.

But I'll tell you something right now, the wait is worth it. It was a great feeling.

If golf really hated you you'd have gone for the putt, missed and missed the one back! Hard luck though, at least you're stringing the round together

Our handicaps are done on the clubs computer. You enter every card played in Club Comps and your handicap goes up or down accordingly. (you can enter cards from other comps you play in at the descretion of the clubs handicap secutary).

The system works well. You get 0.1 of a shot back for every over par card you enter. So even if you have a nightmare round say ten over your handicap you only get 0.1 of a stroke back.

Then depending on what Catergory your in you get dropped between 0.1 & 0.4 of a shot for every stroke under par you are in a round. Cat 1 handicap range from + to 5.4 (0.1), Cat 2 handicap range 5.5 - 11.4 (0.2), Cat 3 handicap range 11.5 - 17.4 (0.3) & Cat 4 handicap range 17.5 - 28 (0.4).

This means a 20 handicap 'bandit' who plays to ten would get dropped 4 (0.4 x 10) strokes in one hit, he would then come down to 16. If he then played to 19 the following week his handicap would go to 16.1.

Each comp also has an overall winner and also a winner for Cat 1 & 2 combined and Cat 3 & 4 combined. This means when a 20 handicapper plays to ten, a scratch golfer doesn't have to blitz the course record to win. The 20 handicapper would win the comp and the Cat 3 & 4 Combined. But the real winner (imo) is the winner of the cat 1 & 2 scores.

Confused? MG

I just picked up a Cameron last week. I assure you, I won't be making another putter purchase for a very, very long time.

Thats wat i was planning on too once i got this last xmas, but this seemore putter seems interesting, no real adv about it and theres 4-5 pros on tour who use them (including winning the 99 US Open). Maybe something to it?

Not sure about the canadian index but the USGA index it would affect your score. They take the 10 best scores out of your last 20 rounds and this is done so your handicap wouldnt be affected by one lousy round.
