Hit Some Balls Today!! In Wisconsin!

Went to this indoor driving range. Was okay but any long clubs you're just bouncing off the other "wall". Amazing how out-of-wack your swing can get in only a couple months. Took me 1/2 hour before things started falling back into place. Got to try some of my new clubs... See review forum.

There is a golf course here also and it was packed! Guys all bundled up in parkas and ear muffs and stocking caps swinging away. Only a few patches of snow but all the water is froze solid. No water balls today! Just walk out and pick them up.

After a wet, cold Christmas, it was clear and 50* here today. I went to the range at lunch. I hope to play this Saturday, Sunday, and Monday if the weather is decent.

Hey Warbird,

If you're ever up in Madison during the winter, the George Vitense driving range (on the west side of town, just south of Hwy 12) has a huge range that is still open. Each stall is heated by a 90,000 BTU space heater hanging behind you, and keeps you nice and warm.

Yeah, Indoor/outdoor heated ranges are the best IMO. You get to see ball-flight instead of having it go out 75 yards and hit the other end of the dome. We have a couple of them here in MPLS.

WBL/FITZ, where are these open courses? We still have a little too much snow here to actually play, but is was 45* today and yesterday. WELL ABOVE the mendoza line of play/not play.

I don't really have the "itch" yet as I played last Monday and Wednesday (18th/20th), but it is a 3-day weekend coming up. Might be time for a short trip. Though heading south (Iowa) might be more prudent.

Come on up Jeff and we'll jump in my car and drive around on a lake!! It's loads of fun. Actually, if you have over 6" of ice you can do that. I take the careful side and wait for 3' of ice! Of course if there's wind it can cause an ice "shift" and leave huge open "rivers" between the ice and you might get stranded. Lake Winnebago near Oshkosh Wisconsin is notorious for that and the local "fishing club" puts up "bridges" over these open water areas.

Lot's of open courses in Milwaukee and Racine areas (southeastern Wisconsin) due to the lack of snow but it's not warm. I don't play when it's that cold. That driving range by Madison sounds great but that's a little long drive for me.

Fitzpatrick, you're in the Mt. Horeb area? Maybe we can swat at some balls together on some course that way next summer.
