Joining Fee's-A thing of the past?

North West UK courses seem to be abandoning the entry fee's are these still applicable in other countries? or are they a thing of the past?

You mean like an initiation fee? Our local private club still has these in addition to the regular season dues to golf and the mandatory bar/food tab. If you have to leave even for medical reasons for a season, when you come back you need to pay the initiation again. But it is not the best club in the area.

Our club still has an initiation fee. Not huge ($1500) but still there no the less. The club my wifes uncle play out of has an initiation fee of $50,000, and a waiting list of over 200. Priveledge comes at a price.
