First Round.

Just played the first of 6 tourney rounds in our spring tour (1 day events for the next 6 straight weeks). Was a much better attempt at golf then my previous tourney rounds from spring break. front nine was mean to say the least, shouldnt have been more than +2 or +3, but ended up +6 even after starting par-birdie, then just went 5 bogies in a row and then doubled, just couldnt stop bogeying (i literally put it into every bunker but 3 on the front, and the ball just wouldnt stay in the hole, lipped out so many times...).

Then made the turn, after a hot dog and a pepsi, then birdie 4 straight and lipped out for 5, parred in with one bogey into 18 then birdie that for the low 9 of -4 (32) and a +2 73 which left me in t-3 (i got the 3rd place prize by countback for having the better back nine). Low round of the tourney was my friend Charlie who shot a 67! I was hoping to be a little closer to 1st after my great back nine, but maybe next time i can get the front as good as the back

It was a lot of fun, actually a kid in my group used my play as an excuse for his bad play.

He said after the round why he played so bad after the turn, he told the guy who asked him "i was watching ryan and forgot that i had to hit shots too" it was pretty kool to hear someone say that about my game.

wow thats a awesome back nine, did you ever read any books or something like that to work on your mental game? it seems like you have a pretty strong one.

i did that last weekend... in the second round of the tournament after shooting 75 i opened with a 40 on the front nine, and followed it up with a 34 on the back for a total of 149 and 3rd place.

tbh ive been struggling with my mental game so far this year. But im subscribed to like 4 email thingys about the mental side of golf. I read a ton of stuff on the internet and work on stuff myself a lot and with my friend's dad who is pretty much my mental coach

I just sorta got outa my own way and things snowballed in a good way after my 10th tee shot. I blocked my tee shot out to the right side of the fw so i had no angle at the green in 2 (short par 5, but a giant tree blocking the green), but i told myself after the tee shot if in inside of 220 (i was 205), then we'll slice the 3w around the tree, at worst i end up in a trap or it doesnt cut and im just past pin high down in a giant open area off the 11th tee. Turned out to be 30 ft, two putted, then just started hitting good shots and it continued. I just kept goofing off between shots with my playing partners as it was a slow round and just ignored my score.

The snowball effect can work in your favor too
