The Memorial: From 6th Alternate to 600K

Ryan Moore is a young US PGA Tour player who has never done much in his career. Adding to this, awhile back, he hurt his left wrist and had to leave the tour for surgery.

So last Wednesday, as the tourney field firmed up, he was the 6th Alternate player...waiting hopefully for 6 players to drop out. Michelson had a wrist injury, Zach Johnson had strep throat....and there were others.

So Moore gets into the tourney as the last player in....he finishes 2nd and pockets $630,000....

Kind of like rags to riches...

I enjoyed listening to K.J. Choi as he talked with Nicklaus. In his broken English, he related that he learned how to play golf by reading "Nicklaus cartoon books, translated into Korean".

Pretty cool too.

Moore is the kid last summer, because of his wrist, had the unusuall swing.

He would raise the club in front of him by cocking his wrists and then turn his shoulders too the right and swing.

That was a heck of a birdie run Moore made to finish on Sunday. Very impressive. Good to see KJ win. I've always liked watching him play.

Does he still do this? I have tried it and used it to teach someone to swing a golfclub, and I thought it was great.

When I watched him last weekend he didn't do it, now last year they asked if he was going to continue after his wrist healed and he said yes.
