Sergio's Year at the British Open?

Man, he looks as dominating this year as Tiger did last year. I'm not a big fan of his but I'd still like to see him get a major and shut the press up (which I really dislike)..

54 holes gone and Sergio has been under par for 53 of them!!! Thats a man at the top of his game. If he goes on to win I think it'll be one of the best Open victories for many a year.

He's been a favorite of mine for a long time now. I love his shot making, the fact he's got the balls to take on risk & reward shots and his touch around the greens is up there with Phil, imo. Tee to Green he's world #2 in my book and if the belly putter keeps improving I wouldn't bet against him actually becoming the #2 by this time next year.

Also I've had £5 on him at 38/1 so I stand to win £190!!! I might even buy a decent Digital Camera to stop the stick I keep getting on here for the crap quality of my efforts so far.

I like Sergio better than Woods...I'd love to see him and Stricker within a stroke of each other (either way) at the turn tomorrow, still 3-4 above the rest, and a true last 9 battle.

He's been the player we all knew he could be - so far.

Let's see if he can finish. I'm pulling for (in this order):

1. Steve Stricker (I love the career comeback)
2. KJ Choi (he's just so steady)
3. Padraig Harrington (always liked Paddy)
4. Sergio (just because he's such a good ballstriker)

I picked Sergio in ST Pick 'em after Pick 'em and he never won. I have always felt he's got the talent to do it, but finally took the attitude of "I'll believe it when I see it".

I think I'll see it tomorrow. Maybe this is the breakthrough he needs....

I always joked about it.

"I'll take Sergio" - yeah, right...

I predict a score of 78 of Mr. Garcia tomorrow, and a comfy 3rd place finish. Maybe over dinner tonight his father in law to be can teach him that fall down and roll over when you miss a putt move. Maybe even let him borrow the hat he wore during his collapse at the Masters.
The champion golfer of the year is Steve Stricker.

Sergio will win going away. The last few holes won't even matter. I am pulling for him. Weir made 2 late bogeys to shoot himself out of it.

I wouldn't be too sure Lyle, he has all the talent and I whilst I can understand some not liking him too much, he has charisma and fire in his belly (putter) which is good to watch.

I saw Stricker fall away on the Sunday of the US Open and I can see both coming back to the field tomorrow. There are plenty of great players waiting if they do.

I just think that the confidence Sergio has found on the greens has taken him to the required level to get the job done.

Whatever happens it has been a great British Open this year. And I won't see the last day because I'll be at Brown Deer in Milwaukee tomorrow watching the USBO! Lumpy instead of Sergio, LOL!!

What is in his head is what will keep this from happening.

I'd love to see Sergio hang in there and win.... but while he is playing par golf, the others out there (even those lower down) have shown that it is possible to come in with good scores.

Oh oh... Sergio just dropped one to be only one in front. Watch out for Romero?
Stricker still playing "only" par golf... and Ernie going strong with birdies.

Edit... and Sergio drops another ... and Romero in trouble... with Els just one back now.
