Yes it is bold, but this is what he needed to get on track, its early in the season, and hes got one win, yes the Top 3 werent there, but Ernie is one hell of a golfer.

Because he usually wins or finishes well enough to make a fair amount of money. He may not play in as many events but I am pretty sure that he still makes the most money of anyone on the PGA tour.

So by only playing in some events, he gets to spend time with his family as well as becoming filthy rich. The best of both worlds

i was kind of sad that matt jones didnt get into a playoff as well as luke donald. i have a feeling that it would have been one hell of a playoff had they been. that matt jones was striking the ball so solidly did anyone see that 199 yard shot from the bunker with the ball like 4 inches below his feet he was so good today. and luke kind of fell off at the end but when he sank that birdie putt from25 or 30 feet i think it was thats when i was like cmon luke! i dont really care for ernie els... hes just not my kind of player... and im not saying hes not good hes just not really flashy enough for me... i like the more maverick players... and he just does not fit the bill. good for him tho on the win.

I don't think the prediction is all that bold really. Ernie's game has been really solid for 71 holes the last few months.

It was great to see Ernie face his aquatic demons through the Bear Trap and 18. I think that little stretch will do a lot for his psyche and we will see Ernie getting back to where he belongs.

When Ernie wins with Tiger in the field then I will say he is back as a threat. Until then he is an average tour player imo.
