Glow Ball Tourney in SC

Sorry for the late notice

This Friday Night at my club we are having a 9 hole two man captain's choice tournament. Finger food will be served at 7:30 and the golf will start at 8:00pm. The cost is $25 per person. This price includes 2 balls, glow sticks, and one mulligan. Beer will be sold at happy hour prices. Bring a flashlight.

It is a really fun event if you have never played in the dark before. If any of you in the area are interested and want to attend PM me and I will give you directions.

I've always been curious to try this, but I'd imagine the round would take FOREVER. Do people at least play from the front tees?

The last one I played in we started at 8:00 or 8:30 and we got done around 11:00 - 11:30. That was with short rain delay. The balls really show up pretty good at night. They actually flash so it is to find them. The other thing about them is that they are a 1 1/2 to 2 clubs shorter than normal balls. Usually there is a lot of drinking also so that makes it slower as well. They are usually a blast you need to try one. This tournament is a fund raiser for some pool renovations at the club.

Oh, and they usually set the tees up but near the whites.

I have one of these coming up this Saturday. They are pretty fun. There is about a club length difference in distance. The balls are super easy to find in the dark.

They really glow bright. The only thing with the balls we use you have to make sure to hit it with the glow stick going horizontal so it doesn't fly out when you hit it.

If you're near Allentown PAor Tamaqua PA its a tournament for a college basketball program if anyone is interested PM me.

It went great, but was different than the normal glo ball we play. The difference was that all the tees were set at or around the 150 markers on all the par 4 & 5
holes. The longest tee shot was around 185. The other course that I play glow ball at is in Santee and you hit from the actual tee boxes. My partner and I shot a 31. The winner shot a 28. We are planning on having another one in June. It will be set up were you play the regular nine on the back before dark and play the front at night par 3.

i have played in a few of these. the ones i played in they used the womens tees.the first time i couldnt get used to looking down and seeing that glowing ball messed with my eyes.so the second time i had 8 or 9 drinks before we started and hit the ball pretty well.

I tried this once. For some reason, my depth perception in the dark is none-existent. I kept "whiffing" which I never ever do. It was fun though.

When I have played in these in the past everyone in our group always brings "miner" lights. The kind that strap to your head. So at address you have your own, plus a couple of other lights shining on the ball so that it's just a normal swing as the address position is as bright as day.

The glow tourneys I have played are always on shorter 9-hole courses and it's always been a scramble format.

The ball doesn't really go anywhere, but it is cool as hell to watch the tracer shoot through the night sky.

In the flyer it said to bring a flashlight. When the manager was going over the rules, he said, "flashlights are for driving only. When you get to your ball all lights must be truned off when the player addresses the ball." We had a blast. The only thing that sucked was the twosome that we got paired up with. They might have played 10 rounds of golf between the two of them in their lifetime. Everything was either a snap hook or a low super shank right.
