Phail is failing

He shoots a 7 on a par five. He could have just punched out of the woods and went for par but nope. He hits it into the woods on the other side, dubs his shot out. Looked just like me out there!

And Geoff O!! He can't putt! He was WAY short on any long putt. Like he had no feel at all on them for distance.

Looks like one of the new guys will win this one....

I loved when he hit his second on the 18th and then you hear him say "O NO" and it goes into the creek. The tv guys couldn't think up a good enough excuse for that one.

I remember hearing Phil say somehere that the reward was greater than the risk. I guess thats why he always goes for it all.

While I am not a fan of his by any stretch, Mickelson sure can make golf interesting. Those old commercials "What's Phil going to do next?" have some truth in them when it comes to his playing a golf hole.

Did you see Nick Price "melt down" in the Champions Tour today? Three shot lead with four holes to play and he dumps one in the water on both 15 and 16. Double bogeyed both to drop one back. Then Tim Simpson bogeyed and there's a pile up at 9 under. I've never seen Price fall on his face like that before.

Good thing Vijay wasn't in contention for the win at Wachovia. What he did at the par 3 17th would have qualified as a world class meltdown. Pull your tee ball left into the water, tee it up and do it again. Finally hit a dry one way right and off the green about 100 ft. from the pin (Vijay to self: "That one's NOT getting wet " ). Laying 5 now... chips the ball in for a crowd pleasing triple bogey 6. That chip was going about mach 3 when it hit the stick and dropped. If he hadn't hit the stick the ball may have gone off the green and he would have been staring at 8 (or worse). Heck, it might have even gone in the water again.

Oh, and Price is one of those guys that all the players and announcers seem to like and pull for to do well -- a genuinely good guy. It seems to me that since he fell off on the regular tour he really has never played all that well since.
