What happened to Chris Dimarco?

It wasn't all that long ago that Chris Dimarco was the PGA golden boy.
Now he is nowhere near the top, missing the cut at the Wachovia brings his name to mind.

discuss.

I think he finally put on a shirt that was so big that he got lost in it.

That guy is a slob.

Don't know. Its a shame, I loved his intensity. Last time I listened to his XM show, he said his game was coming around and that he was excited to play some great golf again. He just must not be able to put it together during the tourneys.

I noticed that too. There are also others like Davis Love III, Gomez and few other fairly big names that have slid way down. Hard to figure as I thought Dimarco was a great player a couple years ago, up near the top in most majors, giving Tiger a run at the Masters.

Didn't he have some family issues? I believe he has an exemption for that reason.

I remember they were talkin about him being the only one mentally tough enough to challenge Tiger.

Hopefully he comes back into form.

On another note, saw that Darren Clarke won an event over across the pond somewhere, was it an asian tour event? Good for him, hope to see more of him this year!

I thought he (CD) had an injury (I want to say his back) that pulled him out of the spot light. It's a shame, while I agree the guy didn't know what a shirt should fit like, he had some serious game. He had a unique, self taught, swing and a real bull dog mentality.

Davis Love III - too much money, too much having fun with other interests, and no desire to practice was his downfall. Hard not to envy him though.

Gomez - Got a little too friendly with the bottle for a couple of years

DiMarco - A poor swing, and a wonky putting stroke have finally caught up with him

DiMarco had a back injury that he tried to play through without much success. It would seem that his swing depends on timing more than a "standard" swing and as a result it would take some time to get it back. Playing injured could do damage that might not be fixable quickly.

I have always thought DiMarco was overrated anyway. His passion and intensity are great, but he has only won three times, never won a significant event and has not won since 2002.

This might just be typical career deterioration for a near 40 year old.
