And this is why I will never ever cheer for this guy. Maybe if he stood up and admitted he was a complete and utter jerk off for the last few years, but its safe to say his ego will never allow that.

All ego aside, I for one was glad to see him win. Yes, he can be a little shit! And that spitting incident was classless. He is a typical spoiled brat Southern European with a fiery temperament. When he was younger that worked to his favour (remember him going head to head with Tiger in the PGA, and him playing with Parnevick in the Ryder Cup; that was all seen as youthful enthusiasm and was perceived as endearing, but one televised gob and he was blackballed outa sight. I'm not saying Woods would ever have done that, but my guess is, that he ever had, it would have blown over a lot quicker!)

But anyway!. He, more than most, has suffered hugely with the flatstick over the past few years and yet prevailed. Yes, we have had to hear him "gurn and winge" about it and that has been a bit nausiating. But a lot of golfers are guilty of that.

The putta has cost him at least one major, so maybe ye golfing gods were taking a bit of pity on him. He is undeniably one of the best ball strikers on the planet and so it is nice to see him not get punished yet again for a shaky stroke.

The TPC is a great one to win. He seemed to hold up well under pressure and holed his fair share yesterday when it mattered. As a poor putter myself I take a positive from that, ie patience gets its rewards finally.

Now if he could just grow up a bit.

Exactly. He is without question a great ballstriker. His putting was good this week, and it helped him win in very difficult conditions on Sunday. That proves that he can be mentally tough. But golf is about so much more than just skill and score. It's more than a sport to be mastered, a game to be played, or a pastime to be enjoyed. Garcia does indeed need to grow up and realize that. The greatest golfers understand. Some never do. Too bad for them.

What putter was Garcia using? They said he'd changed, and it looked like an old Ping or Scotty to me.

Felt bad for Goydos (who I was pulling for), but was very impressed with his attitude and demeanor the entire tournament.

I liked his comment after the toin coss on 17..."I have the tee? Ok, so age before beauty then." Even Sergio laughed at that one. Also liked how gracious a loser he was, both in his actions and statements. He just really seemed like a class act.

Yes he did seem like a classy guy. Played some great golf too. I think he really appreciated being in the moment.

One of the announcers mentioned that Sergio was using a Scotty that he resurrected from the closet. One he had used many years ago, but gave up on.

Did you hear the comments about him not having sponsorships, he got offered a hat sponsorship and turned it down, club sponsorships weren't enough to justify not playing what you liked anymore, etc? I was surprised at some of that.

Ok, heard he changed but not the type. I think he was smart to go back to a blade/anser style instead of the latest TM trend. I'm sure he thinks so now, also!

It is one of the putters he used back when he was a young pro/amateur. Old SC newport2. They showed a couple close ups of it and you could see the paint worn and the SC on the heel of the face and such.

I believe Sergio was a Titleist guy early in his career. He was using a Newport Style Scotty which seemed to be from the 1990's judging by the paint. Where is wirehair when you need him?

Yea, it was an original newport 2, before pro platinums came out.

The Titleist on the back, the Scotty on the heel
Cameron
his initials on the toe.

They showed a couple close ups during the round, i believe on his birdie putt on 16 was one where he just didnt release it and Miller was starting his "same ol sergio" bs routine about missing ONE putt... Sergio making the putt on 18 shut him up.

Piper,

He won that tournament because he was #1 in fairways and GIR's PLUS he putted well Sunday. Putting is still his weakneess and although I wouldn't normally defend Miller, his feelings were accurate.

Look at the birdie putt on 17 for the win. 4 1/2 feet and he blew it. He didn't need it, and yes I'd have probably blown it, but still...it's definitely not time to start praising his putting skill.

However, that 47 footer he made was absolutely fantastic!!

Oh by no means am I saying his putting has turned around, but its making huge steps, and i just think that Miller was being a bit of an ass about singling out the couple putts he missed, vs the huge number of putts he was making this week. I think he is starting to get back to what he did better as an amateur and will start making more runs if he just chills and trusts his ability.

But no question he played absolutely AMAZING tee to green this weekend.
