Question Joining The Nationwide Tour

Well i have some time off my hands and a little green to spend from my bonus (sorry to rub it in).

I never really played serious competition and wanted to give it a shot. Ive played in several local tourny's and won a lot of them.

Im not trying to make pro, but wanted to possibly get a name out there for some sponsor's.

I was wondering something about playing some nationwide events to get started. I really dont know where to begin, but i was told i could goto the courses where they play in upcoming events and talk to that club and play in there monday qualifier and if i place in that, i would be able to play in that nationwide event.

Is this true, cause it kinda seems to simple if that was the case??

I know im able to qualify for a chance from the monday qualifier. No big name sponsor's except a big local golf shop.

If this isnt the case, can someone send a link to where i could possibly get my name into a bowl of other players trying to qualify ?? some links w/ info on how / when / where detailing on how to qualify would be great please!!

Thanks!!

I have no answers for you. However, I do wish you the best of luck. More importantly, I wish you the skill to not need it. It sounds like you're confident- GOOD! Stay that way. Play your game.

Yup, you can go to events or email the coordinators and find out about monday qualifying, and on the chance you get supremely lucky and qualify, then play well, you can get exempt for another event and so forth.

Sorry if this sounds sarcastic/mean a bit, but you have no chance unless you can go to any course on any given day and shoot like -5 at least.

Seriously though, good luck.

Look up tourney info stuff, and find an email of a tourney director and ask who you need to contact about monday qualifying. Find like the homepages for the tourneys your looking to play and find a couple of emails and send those out to find out the ppl you need to talk to, it's usually diff for every tourney.

Prices are anywhere, I wouldnt think it'd be any cheaper than a couple bills....

Howzit, bra? 1 over to 8 under average, sounds like you got some game. Where do you usually play? Anyway, I wish you the best of luck in making the Nationwide.

To enter a monday qualifier you must contact your local PGA section to get the tournament information for which you wish to enter. There is an application to fill out. You must be a 2 handicap or less to enter and the fee is usually around $450. There are usually around 14 open qualifying spots open for each tournament. A maximum or 180 players may compete for these spots.

You only win anything if you turn pro. if you stay an amateur you get squat.

The above is from wiki.answers.com. You better learn the rules well (if you don't already) if you are going to attempt this. Many of the guys trying have some sort of status on the Nationwide Tour, but might otherwise not be eligible that week. They are attempting to earn a living and might lack some patience, if you don't know what's going on.

There are also many good mini-tours to get started. The Golden Bear, Hooters, Canadian, Tarheel and Gateway tours come to mind.

Oh the rules is my game. Golf is so detailed, i make sure im not cheating or anything. Im probably like a small 1% of people that carry the rules book w/ me. Plus my friend is my caddie for events...etc, this guy knows it all anyways, plus he's like triple my age, so he's been around so much he's considered an STD in golf
