Thread: Intesting note on Travelers Championship

  1. Intesting note on Travelers Championship

I just wanted to note that I looked up the course for the Travelers, TPC River Highlands. Interesting that it is 72.9/131/6841. In other words, this is a course that is basically as difficult as the average course I and a lot of us play all the time. Actually, Fenner Hill, a course I play is more difficult rating wise. Of course some of the guys are really tearing up but some really are not. Those #'s are off the tournament tees, not any regular tees.

Theyre just numbers, im sure that with the greens playing tougher and the rough most likely longer than the course usually keeps it that it's a little deceptive.

But yea, some guys are tearin it up a bit.

That's kind of what motivated me to look it up I guess. On a good day, I know my pitching and chipping is better than what JB showed out there today. On the other side of the coin, Hunter Mahan fires a 63. That put things back in perspective pretty quick. I guess I looked at it like "this is a course I could realistically play and play to my cap, what are the pro's doing out there?". I just thought it was cool to see them play a course that's semi-comparable to what I play on. Not to mention the course is about an hour and 15min. from my house.

I think this is the first tournament this year that the pros have even had a chance to tear up the scoreboard. Seems like a lot of the courses have been playing a lot tougher this year.
