358 yards

I saw it. It landed almost in front of me.

We got to the Travelers Championship around noon, found our pavillion and sat down.

Some kid named Brad Adamonis who was playing with Bubba Watson CREAMED his drive on 18, 358 yards right down the pipe.

Fecking incredible I tell you.

Bubba chunked it about 270 into a fairway bunker btw.

<cough>

I gave you tickets to that CVS event last year and what happened?

</cough>

Besides, I can get gazillions of tickets to the Travelers, just let me know how many you want next year and just make sure you show up.

If I'm not mistaken I had to work. I was thinking of going to the CVS this year but not sure if it's over already.

Isn't it incredible when you see it in person? I remember my first pro jaw drop. It was at Winged Foot on I think number 4. I'm standing behind it, thinking "A nice little five yard draw would be perfect for this hole". Up steps Charlie Hoffman, and boom. He hits this mother out there, perfect little draw, dead center. It had to go at least 310. Beautiful.

Then to prove he was a pro, hits wedge to ten feet, and sinks the putt. It was a perfectly played hole, one I'd be proud of all season. I mean really, how often do you string together two or three perfect shots? I play to a five, and I only do it a couple times a year.

Stewart Cink hit one about 366 I think on 18, but it was a slice or something, where he was next to the gallery hitting his second.

I was not prepared for the first time I went to a Pro tournament and watched them hit tee shots. It's a whole different world up there. They hit the ball so hard.

My holy shit moment came at the Canadian Open, on a Saturday afternoon. My wife and I stood at the 5th tee box (everyone hits driver here) for 4 hours watching every group go by and waiting for Tiger. We were right along the ropes and stood less than 5 feet from Tiger at one point. When he went up to hit it was so dead silent it was eerie. The drive he hit was like nothing I have ever seen or heard in person. A fricken monster bomb that went past the corner. At driver of about 340 yards and almost all carry. Even he knew he nailed it, and did the little twirl. Standing closer than I would to a buddy teeing off was the icing on the cake. It was a thrill I will never forget.

Same happened to me at the Ryder Cup at the K-Club. Tiger crucified a drive at the par 5 15th(?) to about 3 yards from where I was standing. He was unlucky in that it ran into rough. So all he could do was wedge it out and wedge the next on the green. Only Stenson and Garcia got close to Tiger's drive all day. He must have hit it 340 ish.

Tiger shared an emotional moment with me. We both knew he couldn't go for the green!

Go as soon as you can.

Tiger or no Tiger, it is a great experience. Everyone should experience Tiger play at least once (Tiger-lover haters can just BACK OFF...) But with him out of the mix, I think the crowds will be more manageable.

Holy Deja vu batman!

I think I posted the same thing when I saw him at the Deutchebank a few years ago. Simply awesome display of power. He hits it so much farther than everyone else it seems. Maybe it's just how his shots take off. Gotta see it in person and live. A real treat for sure
