seriously I live like 30 mins. from Kenny but he probably wouldnt fare too well in the British. He hits a HUGE high draw. Plus, the Ryder Cup is HUGE for Kentucky. I can only imagine how big it is to a seasoned pro like Kenny

So ignorant? Isn't he an American? I think you really have to reach to be offended with this. Don't live your life being offended, dude. Its not worth it.

Who are them over there? Europeans???

Like I said in my original Thread the guys a Tosser, not golfing reasons for shunning the Open but the fact he can't be arsed travelling away from the US. Wonder if he'll come over for the Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor in a couple of years if he makes the Team??? I hope not.
Again, what? Why is this a big deal? Them over there? How is that offensive?

Easily post of the month. Absolutely hilarious, and totally on point. Illustrating absurdity by being absurd. Brilliant.

So Kenny doesn't like travelling far from his good ole US of A. What was his excuse for ducking the US Open? Perry has dis'ed the two biggest tournaments in golf back to back by not taking up invitations for pre qualifying. For anyone who has ever picked up a club the majors should be the ultimate dream, but obviously getting some easy money when the big boys are away is more important to ol Kenny than the challenge of playing golf in it's purest form at a major. I'm not sure if Kenny's comments show arrogance, I think they just show that he is a fat, jelly backed redneck with no class who is too yella to put his game up against major championship conditions. Personally I think the majors are better off without someone with that sort of attitude. Anybody who would give up a chance to play in a major is not a golfers arsehole in my opinion.

Why is this ignorant?

He is American, so he isn't lying. According to many surveys a lot of Americans don't like traveling outside of the US. I respect him for speaking his mind regardless if what he thinks is what everyone wants to hear or not.

That still doesn't explain why he ducked the US Open. Last time I heard that was still played in the US. He's full of it about not wanting to travel, he's just too chicken to put his game up against a strong field in a major championship.

HE wasnt exempt for the US open. The qualifying is a one day 36 hole event. He said there was no way he could play 36 in a day, his back just couldn't do it. He has also stated more than once that he hates Torrey Pines. He is 47 years old and wants to play in a Ryder Cup, he could care less at this stage about majors or what anyone on a internet soap box thinks about him. With his ball flight he would have been home Saturday morning from Birkdale sporting a pair of 85's. Instead he stayed in Milwaukee, had a few cold beer and padded his wallet. If thats what chickens get then I want to be a chicken too.

Exactly. The dude is at the tail end of his journeyman PGA Tour career and he's on a hot streak. I can't blame him one bit for stocking up the old retirement account funds. He's not a superstar like Tiger or even Phil who never have to work another day in their lives. He knows the streak can't last forever and he's going to make hay while the sun shines -- smart man, in my opinion. I think hes just being realistic and trying to play the odds at what's best for him in the long run. I'd probably do the same thing if I were in his shoes.

He has made over 26 mil in career prizemoney. How much retirement funds do you need? I read something about this on GD and in the article Curtis Strange listed his decision to do a Kenny and dodge the Open in the late 80's as "the biggest regret of my career, the biggest mistake I ever made". He did it the first time for more valid reasons than Kenny as he was chasing the money title and the Open didn't qualify in those days, but he summed it up perfectly by saying "I won the money title and that was something, but the British Open, that's something else". Somehow I don't think ol Kenny is quite as deep and reflective as Strange, but maybe one day when he's sitting on his rocking chair out on his porch in retirement he might get to wondering what might have been.

Rich men retire every day. Rich men make business decisions that affect their own, personal lives every day. Why are one businessman's decisions fodder for public criticism, and other's are not?

Why do people care what Kenny Perry is doing with his career? I just don't get it.

I just wonder why everyone who is ragging on Kenny didnt do the same last year when Woody didnt go to the British even though he was qualified, or 2 years earlier when Fred Funk did the exact same thing. Its just a golf tournament, anyone who thinks otherwise has bought into the media hype. Life will go on for Kenny.
