Bjorn goes low - Daly putts with wedge

What a round by Thomas Bjorn...He came damn close to setting a new major single round record. Shows he can produce some incredible play when he is on.

And John Daly - the classic John Daly. Throws his putter and damages it. Must use his sand wedge to putt. Made a nice two-putt for birdie on 17 with it though....

Tiger frowns on a golf course and he gets slated for it.

Daly throws and damages his clubs and he's a hero. (Did he throw it..? one report I read said that the head came loose, but didnt say why..). Well, he ain't my hero. I think he's a disgrace for a number of reasons, regardless of the odd charity moment. (there, that might spark a reaction..!).

Anyway, well done Bjorn, all credit to him - there are obviously some demons there but he seems to be fighting them and total respect to the guy.

Well......Tiger did have that little incident where he dragged his putter along a green and tore up the grass. The announcers just used it as an example of how focused and perfectionist he can be on the course. Rory Sabbatini would not have been treated as kindly.

The list of indiscretions against Daly is as long as the arm of the man with the longest arms in the world. From hitting balls over galleries to accusing fellow pros of being druggies. He's brought the yob culture into golf and he gets lauded as a hero. What sort of role model is he? He's a disgrace.

Daly threw it. One video showed him slamming it against the back of his bag as he departed one of the greens. There is no doubt that the man has had much more than his share of indescretions, both on and off the course.

After I posted this, there was a very good interview with Bjorn. They asked about him potentially setting an alltime major low round record and he downplayed it with a lot of class.

He, himself brought up in a subtle way, the issues he had earlier (at The Open C) and said he had been working hard on some things...he is very self-aware of his issues.

I felt for the guy...anyone who faces these demons in the head...

He is in an ideal position to start the last round. He is Not in the lead but immediately behind two players. Perfect place to start.

Alas yesterday he played in the morning and today he must face the heat (literally and figuratively). KA - it was 102F/39C yesterday - plus humidity. I don't know if you saw this or not but the afternoon players were just drenched by the time it was over.

Should be an interesting finish.

If Bjorn wins, he will be the first European in 75 years to win the PGA Championship.
