Obtaining Press credentials

The Buick Championship is in my neck of the woods every year and I was thinking today, wouldn't it be cool to get some exclusive pics of the event for Shot Talk?

OK, how to do it?

I applied online using ST as a web media outlet, requesting credentials for one photographer (me).

I am sure I will be shot down if for no other reason than I applied to late.

Anyone have any thoughts on getting old Sling into nearby golf tourneys with a press pass??

I dunno, I'll be our resident correspondent at the Bell Canadian Open this year though. Volunteering as security. That's as close as I can come to getting you in.

Always wondered how you got those passes...i mean you must get freelance photographers in there, not all of them can be directly employed by news agencies?

But surely there must be a vetting procedure...the can't let just any old punter wander in with his Brownie Automatic, snapping away like a Japanese who's been given free film..
