Thread: Monty requests to not be paired with Pavin?

Re: Monty requests to not be paired with Pavin?

Think it would be hilarious if they came out and said:

"We will assure that you will not be paired with Paven. As not to affect the nature of the event should you both be playing for the championship on Sunday, and with the uncertainty how you would react, we simply scratched your name for the event to satisfy all parties."

Better yet, wait until he flies out there, then tell him that is the only foreseeable pairing for days 1 and 2. Why didn't he just say "I'm Montie and Pavin should withdraw from the event"

Is Monty playing at Bethpage this week?

The NY fans love heckling him. I love the Mrs Doubtfre taunts, they really seem to get to him.

How can you love it, its not golf. No matter how much you hate someone there is no excuse for that.

Monty's precious little tanty's are priceless. If he wasn't so uptight and didn't bite nobody would do it. But it's hard to feel sorry for a guy who brings it on himself with his carry-on in the Ryder Cup over the years. In every other sport participants are subjected to heckling and abuse from fans. Why should golf be different? As long as it isn't done during his shot I have no prblem with it. It makes for a more entertaining day out.

Really? We're talking Ryder Cup strategy?

Let me tell you, if any team is so easily affected, I'm rooting for the other team that way at least I know I'm not backing a buncha ****ies.

That not how the game was started, just because it has grown in america doesn't mean you americanize it. Golf is about 98% mental, no need to make it any harder on the players.

I actually live in Australia, and believe me heckling isn't exclusive to America. We have a party hole at our Open and all the boozed up patrons realy give it to golfers thy don't like, and make heaps of noise in general. Personally I think the players are way too precious when it comes to a little bit of background noise. Monty was the worst offender, he would complain about absolutely any noise. Unfortunately for him the fans cottoned on and made it their business to make life difficult for him. But I think the noise and the drunken heckling andf cheering makes golf tournaments more interesting. Let's face it, it's better than likstening to Faldo waffle on about nothing.

Yeah, but we never had the party hole until the US came up with it. The game of golf is and always has been meant to be played with etiquette and manners. How about we come to your work and heckle the shit out of you while your talking on the phone or in a meeting with your boss. But its been clear from day one on here that you have no manners or etiquette so we shouldn't expect any different from you.

Oh boo effin hoo. Good grief if I'd have known that I was on the forum with such nancy boys I'd just have just ignored ya from the start.

That's the other side of the coin. The United States of America has been good for golf, and it for us. Not nearly filled with so many nancy-boy pretentious dickwads per capita anymore. I don't expect a thank you card in the mail though.

Re: Monty requests to not be paired with Pavin?

Now, if you can't realize the humor of my previous post, I ask you not to quote it.

This game has changed, a lot. I know, many desire it to be that game of old where it was nearly dead-quiet, hand-shakes, and almost no overt emotion. That's fine, but those are the days of old.

Personally I agree with fig. Players are too precious. This game is mental, yes, but my dad constantly threw golf balls, walked in my line, and did nearly anything he could to distract me from the task at hand. Guess what? When it happened in tournament, I was better for it. These are athletes now, that's a big change in the past decade or two, we should treat them as much. It expects more of them, which makes the winner all the stronger.

    I'll quote this one mate.

I couldn't agree more with you that the players should practice and prepare for situations the same as what your dad did for you. Personally, you could put a 50 piece marching band behind me and it wouldn;t faze me. But the players should have distractions like this as the absolute minority, not as a regular occurence. If this sort of behaviour is tolerated now, where does it end!?!?!

Re: Monty requests to not be paired with Pavin?

When I see people saying they wish golf would be louder, and less regimented, what they are really saying, is that since they have adopted a lifestle of lack of respect for rules, discipline and consideration of others, they want the game to be degraded down to THEIR level. Because the concept of actually displaying common curtesy, adhearing to rules and ettiquite are simply too difficult for them to follow.

These are the same people who if they made an infraction in a round of golf, would not take a penalty unless caught.

Theres a time and place for everything…personally, I appreciate and embraced golf because of the high standards they put on the player and the gallery….if someone cannot exercize the same discipline, they should look elsewhere for their entertainment.

On the flip side, I am also a big fan of Football both USA and Aussie, as well as UFC, no holds barred fighting and the in your face attitude of the competetors and the crowd.

But as I said theres a time and place for everything…if someone cannot differentiate between the two, then that's their problem…they should not expect the world to come down to their level.
