I agree though. Monty needs to lighten up. There was a time when I kind of liked him and even hoped he'd finally win a Major but he keeps doing and saying things like this and makes me think he is a D'bag.

Think about it, here you have two capitans who will be leading teams against eachother in the Ryder Cup.

Now if I was capitain of a team and I play in the same group as my opponent and LOSE to him, how will that affect the confidence in the team I am managing?

Or, should I WIN, would that create a "revenge" mind set with the opponents team?

I think Monty is right on this....and people are too used to ragging on him everytime he does anything that they can't see beyond the man they love to hate.

I get what you are saying but at the same time, it's a golf match not a war. I thought the whole premise of the Ryder cup matches originally was to promote goodwill. It gets taken way too seriously.
