The USGA organiser's of the US Open don't have talk crap. When players requested they introduce lift, clean and place on fairway's as the course was getting so soft that balls hitting centre of the fairway were picking up mud, they refered to it as 'lift, clean and cheat'. I'm not a fan of placeing but being punished after a perfect tee shot is a farce. I think it should be as the R&A do where it's lift clean and place within 6 inches rather than the two club lengths they allow on the US tour. I want to see the best player win not the player who has the most luck.
I also think they should have jigged things around so that the whole field got to play in the decent weather conditions instead of the 1st half of the field getting the worse stuff on day one/two. Then the later starters got the best of yesterdays and this mornings weather and those who had the crap in the 1st round are scheduled to get it agian this time round today/tomorrow. Best play so far has in my opinion been McDowell's 1st round.
