Congrats to Glover but the man has the charisma of a cardboard box.
Of all of the guys that had a sniff, he has to be the least appealing.

Yah. Phil, or David, or even that weiner Ricky would've made an awesome US Open. I was rooting for DD myself, but I would've been glad to see Phil win.
Collar was a little too tight, I guess.

Even though I wasn't pulling for Glover, he played good solid golf down the stretch to win. I was pulling for Phil, then Duval once Phil finished out of contention.
Did anybody else think of Ricky Bobby from Talledega Nights every time the said Ricky Barnes' name?

I was sorta rootin' for Glover... or Barnes or Duval. The Duval story would have been amazing. But, for Barnes and Glover to lead the holes that they did... for a couple of qualifiers to finish 1st and tied for 2nd... is a great feat.
NBC interviewed Glover for a few seconds, yesterday. He is a South Carolina native with that deep southern drawl. Seems, in my opinion, like a real bona fide old country boy.... havin' a blast!
These guys had to have trouble breathing the entire last round. Their throats had to be like sandpaper. Both probably felt like anything that went towards the stomach would come back up.... quickly. The pressure had to be something none of we who post to an internet forum can comprehend.
It is good for the game to see these young guns come through. Sure, a TW or Phil or Duval win would have made for good press. Personally, I'm glad Glover held on and carded a great major victory!!!!!
Yep I hear ya... nothing against Glover.. seems like a decent enough person... but meh.. lots of others I would have liked to have seen won.

I thought it was a great last round. Having so many players with possibility at the 10th-11th hole made it a great watch and very entertaining...

The problem with the PGA in general is a lack of personality from the players.
It needs more John Dalys. More guys with unique swings. More guys that get pissed off. More guys that laugh and have a good time. I don't just mean funny clothes. How often do you see a player make a huge pretend sigh of relief when he gets a lucky bounce? How often do you see a player use a little body English or walk a putt out as it heads toward the hole? How often do you even see a player acknowledge an opponent's good shot with as little as a hand gesture? How about a little dancing out there when things go well.
Maybe the money has become so huge they all forgot how to enjoy themselves. Too often it's like watching robots play. I know Figham wouldn't agree, but I like watching the women just as much as the men. Not because they are so much more personable, but because so many have such fine strong legs coming out of their little shorts and skorts. That's a type of personality in and of itself.

Would have loved to see Double D take it, but I do love Glover's swing. Purty.

If Phil had won it'd be "it was a setup". If Tiger had won it'd be "Tiger,Tiger,Tiger". Now that Glover won it's "man this guy's a stiff". Is anyone ever happy? I bet the guy who won the coffee cup & other prizes is happy.

It was only a let down in the sense that in the final hour when we had 2 guys at -3 and 3 at -2 it looked like being a classic. But then all bar one rather tamely fell away. That may sound harsh but I'm not dissing anyone, huge pressure and there were still plenty of great shots. Hunter Mahan will be cursing his luck for weeks after that shot hit the flag, it could have been so different for him.
All in all great drama that just ran out of steam to elevate this one to classic status in my eyes but you just can't beat the home stretch in a Major for excitement and this had plenty.
DD = legend. We've all seen his scores of 84 and similar over recent years and I really hope he is back for good now. When he won our Open people at first thought "darn, just another gum-chewing, fist-pumping yank" (not that we dislike you US guys of course...) but then he made his winner's acceptance speech and I think everyone thought differently of him. He was a gracious and respectful winner and paid a handsome tribute to the game of golf and it's heritage. He won a lot of UK fans that day and his golf wasn't too dusty either.
Phil just showed us what a class act he is - it would have been the emotional choice but in defeat he showed us all that he is more than just a great golfer but a great man as well.
Barnes at least got himself together at the end but Glover's play over the final 3-4 holes was exceptional and he was a worthy winner, delivering that under that pressure was no mean feat. Hats off to him.

+1 here lad. I never really liked DD until I was at Lytham to see him win and after listening to his speech he went up alot in my estimations.... It's good to see him back although he's piled on a few pounds since 2001. I also noticed how all the European players turned pundits on our coverage had nothing but good words to say about DD when they played with him on and off the course. They said win or lose on the Ryder Cup he always shared a drink and had a laugh with his opponants and in stroke play he was one of the best players to be paired up with....top man.
On another note.... I always feel majors are not the same when the weather is bad and rounds run from day to day. I thought our Open last year at Birkdale wasn't a very good watch, I like to see the best players in the World playing well not struggling against the elements all the time.

Didn't watch it today as I was at work, the only time I watched any of it was yesterday for a short while & I fell asleep. I wanted either Phil or Tiger to win because it makes for better stories. This guy Glover I could care less about.
