Thread: Furyk's extra club

    Furyk's extra club

since Furyk was carrying 15 clubs for two holes, it cost him 4 penalty strokes. that knocked him down from 6th to 15th, or $130,000, ouch!

will Fluff get a bonus this year? :emot-ange

This REALLY shocked me about Fluff!! One of the most experienced caddies in the pro ranks. Will be interesting to hear his story. Furyk, on the surface, seems the type to accept partial responsibility and not hold it against Cowan. Not knowing him, personally, don't know how it will play out.
Blessed to have a bag full of trustworthy friends who have provided this old man with hundreds of hours enjoying the great game of golf.

    That would be embarrassing moment.
When asked how to put back spin on a i7,
Trevino said how far do you hit it?
The guy said 120yds and Trevino said why do you want to back it up?

    pretty good assessment.

"We've been through too much together for a long, long time. He's been on my bag for over 10 years. He does what he does. He shows up on time. He's a good person and he's a good caddie. The last thing I want anyone to do is blame it on Mike. The fact that we both made the error is what surprises me. That's the shocker. I can see one person being a bonehead for 30 minutes, but two people is disappointing."

Weird, but Furyk ain't gonna miss $130,000.

Ian Woosnam and the British Open was another story!!!

Seriously, how hard is it to look in your damn bag and see how many clubs are in there? I hate it for the guy, but that was a tough break.

i read that because of potential rain, the cover was on the bag, before and during the round. so it was "hiding" in there.

Very shameful for an experienced caddies like him.

  10. Re: Furyk's extra club

I have played in several tournaments with a caddie. And I have been in the situation where walking to the first tee I had more than 14 clubs in my bag. I can also say in all honesty that I have never teed off in a match without counting my clubs twice. It isn't hard. I know most of you would have to take a shoe and sock off to make it to 14, but really you could always carry 10 clubs and save that trouble. I don't feel bad for Furyk, it isn't his caddies fault. If you are not on top of your current situation no matter what you are doing you need a wake up call. I don't mean to sound all high and mighty here but it is just careless, and the fact that it has happened in several situations is just sad.
