Viking Classic Oct 26-Nov.1st

Well, cold beer and my PC have gotten me again,

I volunteered to work at the Viking Classic here in Jackson,Ms. one night. I really didn't figure there would be any spots still open. Guess what, I was accepted. I put in to be a marshal on the 16th hole, not sure if thats what I'll get, I'll find out in a week or two.

The main reason I signed up is that if I work 4 shifts during the tournament I get to play the course in the Volunteer Golf Outing the following spring, March 8 & 9th. This course is super exclusive/private. I can't even find any pictures other than one solitary picture. Guess they are afraid that if us lowly commoners see how nice it is we'll try and invade it and take it over,

Annandale Golf Club

Years ago I delivered something there to the maintenance barn and was given the grand tour by the head grounds keeper, it is a gorgeous course, or was back then.

Anyway, has anyone else on here ever done this, worked as a volunteer? What should I expect?

I wanted to do it for the Tour Championship, but ironically, they want ME to pay to be a volunteer I think. Kinda strange... Does include a bunch of clothing and stuff, but still.. If I got to play East Lake in the tournament conditions, it'd be worth the small fee.

Hope you have fun! Playing the course would be awesome, but I wonder if it would be in tournament condition when you play it?

I have to buy a shirt, moisture wicking with the Viking Classic logo on it for $26.00. I do get free food and beverages during the tournament, a lapel pin and I think a visor. Free parking and one free guest pass for each day I work.

The course won't be in the same condition when I get to play it. But in normal condition it is closer to tourny shape than anything else around here I'll ever get to play. And like I said, this place is very exclusive. The members are only given r guest passes a year. So you have to either be related to a member, or be sleeping with one, This will be the only way I'll ever get a chance to play this course as I don't know any members.
