Thread: Women's U.S. Open

  1. Women's U.S. Open

The women's U.S. Open begins tomorrow about 20-30 minutes down the road from me in Newport, RI. I just wonder how many spectators will show. I was thinking about checking it out but then looked at the ticket prices. $130, yikes. Well that's for all 4 days but the one-day ticket is still $40. I find that a bit steep. Not to mention you can count on another $10 for parking as Newport has none to begin with.

Ez, that works out to like $32 a day. A day ticket at 6 Flags costs like $60. Doesn't sound bad to me, even at $40. Cheaper than most rounds of golf, I'd wager.

Anybody know how much the tickets are to the PGA events?

  4. Maybe I'm just cheap. I just kind of figure I'm a pretty big golf nut and I won't be there, how many people will. I was half thinking about taking a little walk through the woods. They can't possibly have enough security to cover a 7200 yd. course.

Do you also cheat at golf? Do you steal food from the grocery store? How about from an open-air market? Surely they don't have enough security to cover all the produce stands.

Excuse me for taking the high moral ground here, Ezra. I've told myself not to do that here, since it's something I like about this forum. The fact that people don't criticize others. And if you want to flame me back for what I said, I'll sit back and take it, and I won't respond in a negative way. But at least think about why you would post something like the above quote on this forum.

  8. Bad idea, Ezra. If one of those big female pros sees you trying to avoid paying, which would cut into her potential winnings, you might get a 5 iron where the sun doesn't shine.

Do you know the difference between a BMW and a porcupine? The porcupine has its' pricks on the outside.

  9. Sheesh, I was just kidding. I wouldn't even realistically consider something like that. Believe me, aside from being morally incorrect, the last thing I need is to get busted trying to sneak in to a women's golf tournament. I just thought the prices were very steep for the event. I was thinking more along the lines of $20-$25.

    I stand corrected.

  12. It's $50 to watch Professional Women golfers play a MAJOR. Go to a pro hockey game and see what you have to shell out for 60 minutes of entertainment.
Pro golf is one of the best sporting values on the market. First tee time is usually 7AM, last group walks off 18 around 6PM. 11 Hours for $50.00. How cheap is that?

A bit of tangent but the nationwide tour played here in athens last april for the first time. If you worked the tourney you got a hat and a round of golf at Jennings Mill, private club where the tour played.
Had a friend do it and she really enjoyed it. would follow one player as an official scorekeeper. She had a great time, got to chat with a few pros and said the caddies know how to party .
