The Open Championship, 2006.

The Open Championship, 2006.
July 20-23, 2006.
Royal Liverpool, Hoylake

http://www.wagerweb.com

The 2006 British Open, the year's third major, runs from July 20-23 at Royal Liverpool Golf Club at Hoylake. Last year's winner, Tiger Woods, figures to be the sportsbook favorite. Phil Mickelson, winner of this year's Masters and a near-winner at the U.S. Open, will likely be a popular wager as he looks to bounce back from his 18th hole meltdown at Winged Foot. Woods won by five shots last year at the British Open, at 14 under. Woods also won the British in 2000. Scotland's Colin Montgomerie, still arguably the best player to not win a major, will look to use his strong U.S. Open finish to breakthrough at Hoylake and should again be a fan favorite. At 43, however, the odds don't figure to be in Monty's favor.

The Open Championship breakdown ( updated thru July 14)

So what exactly happened in the past between Faldo and Woods? When they went to the tee, the announcer said there were betting odds that they would not even shake hands prior to the event. Like any good announcer, they didn't say why, assuming everyone knew.

It made for a uncomfortable moment for the announcers because they showed them shaking hands, and the British announcer said "I couldn't believe that, Woods is a true gentleman". The US announcer just kind of sat there for a second, not really thinking, then finally said "As is Faldo"

It had to do with a comment Faldo made as an announcer about Tiger's swing and as usual they blew it out of proportion.

Thanks!!! Tiger should probably be happy it was Faldo and not Feherty doing the commenting. What was his comment about Furyk "He looks like a man trying to kill a snake in a phone booth" or his comments on Faldo "The only time he opens his mouth is to change his feet"

Is this referring to some sort of foot fetish? If so, count me in!

2005 Buick invitational, Tiger hit a bad shot with an i2 I believe they said and Faldo was a communtator for the event and said.
Looks like Tiger fanned that shot with his club". After the tourny the press told Tiger about what Faldo said and its been game on ever since.
That is the story I heard on espn this week.

I'm sure Feherty could turn you on to some decent Irish Ale as well. Although 2 of his last articles included Nude Photos in Golf Magazine, as well as jumping up and down on a trampoline wearing a cheerleader outfit. I hate to hear what memories that may bring to the surface.

I'm not sure I have ever seen Faldo commentate, but I do love to watch him play the game. He had a rough go of it today. After 17 he looked like he was about ready to pack it in. One of my favorite comments involving him was after the Masters when he beat Norman. Not sure who made the comment, may have been Feherty or McCord. He hugged Norman on 18 and the announcer said "I think they call that the Heimlich"
