Wie, close but no bannana

She shot a respectable 4 under in the final round, but it wasn't quite enough. Maybe with a tied second though, people will ease up on her.

I think she might have the best raw talent among women golfers and once she gets her mental game in sync with her physical game, she could have Tigeresque domination of the LPGA.

I'm beginning to think that when Wie wins her first LPGA title, it's going to come in a tournament where she jumps out to good sized first round lead and then dominates it through to the finish.

she just needs to focus as much on trying to win on the LPGA as she focuses on trying to make the cut on the PGA.but until she wins on the LPGA she will have her doubters and yes i am one of them.

placing 2nd is a great feat but with all the hype about her i just feel if she just forgot about the mens tour she probably would have already won atleast one tourny.

Except one problem right now is that because of her age, the LPGA restricts the number of LPGA tournaments she can play, I think it's seven. So she's got a lot of free time, and due to her value of the public's interest in her, there are a number of tournaments willing to use their exemptions to invite Wie to play.

Make no mistake about that, presently using a sponsor exemption by a PGA or other official body tourney to have Wie come to play is a huge financial boon to the tourney.

I'm glad to see actual golf fans know what to expect from her. People in the non-golf media just need to stop freaking out about her winning tournaments. She's only 16 years old and consistently contends -- what else do you want?? Remember how long it took David Duval to win his first tournament?

i understand what your saying.yes it helps the smaller tournys make money.but i dont think it helps her pschy to keep missing cuts on the PGA.of course there gonna keep giving her the exemtions but she has the option to turn them down and work on her finishing skills.its not like she needs the apperance fees.

And whre is he now??? I knwo he was sick but, still he did pretty much burn out. I'm a huge Duval fan but he did. I see the same fate for her, especially if she keeps up the way she is.

Duval didnt burn out. He was the best golfer in the world for a time before Tiger's reign. He lost his game after he provved that he had what it took to be the best in the world.

Ty Tryon burned out. Tons of potential, youngest ever to have a PGA card, now he's toast. Never proved anything. I dont think that Wie has this same fate destined for her, as shown by consistent high finishes, but until she wins the shadow of doubt will be there.

I personally think she's making the right call. Play the 7 LPGA tourneys she wants to, she's been doing well in them, and while you have sponsor's exemptions, go at the PGA. She's making tons of money, and it doesnt hurt to miss the cut. Hell, i'd take 2 free days of golf on a PGA course if they offered it to me

Rockford35 will become famous soon enough
I think Bravo pointed out in another thread that she's made just over 700K this year in tournament money alone. Not a bad summer for a young kid like that.

I'm not a fan of her exposure on the PGA Tour, but she's a force to be reckoned with come 07.

Bad error in the bunker-she touched the sand on her backswing-got done-2 penalty shots.
Tell you what tho, if the TV hadn't caught it she would have got away with it.
It was a miniscule touch of the sand.

I will caddy for you if you get the exemptions, just ask for my opinion and act accordingly, do the opposite of whatever I think is the right call. We will make the cut a couple of times just because you refuse to listen to me.
