Golfbum, you don't think caddies ever take their players entire bag into the john with them?

In my mind, if the player didn't notice, and you have no positive proof that he did, and the officials didn't notice, then it should be a moot point.
Exactly. Let me tell you...in a game like golf, let me tell you, a ball moving half an inch had better move out of a sandtrap or onto the fairway before you make a big deal about it. I'm pretty sure half an inch, when you're in the rough, 66yds from the green, would never have an effect on the outcome of the hole.

Not to be harsh, but play some more. A half an inch could have saved me a stroke or two every once in a while.

Me too, but what does that have to do with this thread?

If his ball moved and he didn't tell anyone, then thats cheating. Theres no doubt about it, but who cares now since the event is over.

Not to sound like an ass, (Not that I care if I do either) but how many PRO GOLF EVENTS have you attended?

Personally I have been to 10 Pro Events
7 PGA (Canadian Opens)
2 LPGA (Both at the London Hunt Club, 1993, 2006)
1 CPGA

Not once have I ever witnessed a caddy going into a PORTI POTTIE with the PRO's golf bag in hand. I mean think about this for a minute, how the hell are you getting in that porti pottie with a STAFF BAG IN HAND?

If Taylor says the ball did not move then that is enough for me. As I said "ARM CHAIR REFS" always want to bring down someone else. Meanwhile if you were golfing (I assume you do play golf?) and your ball moved a half inch would you call a penalty stroke on yourself? I am betting you would not. Or if that had been TIGER WOODS and you thought his ball moved a half an inch would you be making a big issue out of it? Somehow I doubt you would.
Vaughn Taylor is a PROFESSIONAL GOLFER and I suspect he acts like one on the course.

I think if he knew the ball moved he would have done the right thing. How else can you face the guys in the locker room, never mind the media and maybe his conscious. Could be the ball moved without his knowledge and when he made his stroke the ball wasn't where he played it,thus causing his flubbed shot.

Look, all I'm saying is I saw his ball move. Without any direction from me my wife saw his ball move... and we were watching it on TV! How could it be that with him right over the top of the ball he didn't see it move? And then, as I immedietely predicted, he somehow completely flubs a fairly simple 66 yard pitch to a pin in the back third of the green. As a matter of fact, his ball does not even reach the green! And I'll tell you why, because he just saw his ball move and was shaken.

Now I agree with those of you who say "what does half an inch matter?" as far as how the shot would ultimately play. But is it not a rule of golf? I guess we should also tee it a foot or two in front of the markers. You know, because the hole is 500 yards long so what does a couple a feet matter. And let's go ahead and tamp down those spike marks because, you know, that's a stupid rule too. And balls coming to rest in divots in the fairway... I just hope I never play any of you for even a dime a hole. Because while your over there moving your ball around and nudging it out of that fried egg lie, I will not be. To me, integrity and principle still mean something. The thinking exhibited by some here shows why you have to shoot at least 17 under (on recently aerated greens) to come close to placing 1st in a scramble these days.

I really just started this thread to see if anyone else noticed the incident.
I have no other reason not to like Mr. Taylor, and yes golfbum (2 LA opens, 3 or 4 Bryon Nelsons, & 4 Colonials ), if it had been Tiger my position would be the same.

I am going to miss the Canadian Open this year. I have been off work since mid May due to a by pass operation. I am going back to work August 28. So I feel I better work the few weeks we are actually going to be working ( I work in the auto industry, lots of layoffs at our plant)
If I could have gone I would have picked Tuesday, as that is a great day to go with camera in hand. Autographs are easy to come by too. I went to the LPGA Cn Open in London on the Tuesday and had a blast.

As for Taylor and the ball moving. We all know the rules, or we all should know the rule about a ball moving while you are addressing it. If he had grounded his club while looking at his target then maybe he did not see if move. None of us were standing right beside Taylor when this happened. So we do not know the circumstances.............period. To call a man a cheater without being able to hear his side of the story is just not right IMO.

And anyway, who would want to go into a Porti-Potty. I've been in one in my life, even when it hurts...I hold it or go to the bushes.
