Wie hires new Caddie

Maybe this is old news, but the golf channel has reported that Wie
hired Andrew Lano as her new Caddie. GC said he is very out spoken when it comes too his job. This could be interesting.

Wie hires new caddie
Michelle Wie hired Andrew Lano II to carry her bag for the next two events, Golfweek Magazine reported yesterday. Lano, who caddied for Kenny Perry for much of the past 20 years, will be on Wie's bag for the European Tour's Omega European Masters, Sept. 7-10, and for the PGA Tour's 84 Lumber Classic (Sept. 14-17). Lano applied for the job and went through an interview process with Team Wie, which included Michelle's father, B.J. Wie, and her agent Ross Berlin

I also heard that he will not be reading putts for her.

If I had a tour caddie, you had better believe he/she would be helping me read putts.

Do you know the difference between a BMW and a porcupine? The porcupine has its' pricks on the outside.

If he reads putts for her he will be employed until she misses the first one. He's probably trying to set a record by being her caddie for more than month.

I would rather go through an interview process with Donald Trump, George, and Carolyn than with that little committee. Ouch. I have new respect for Lano just for making it through the gauntlet.

I wonder what they asked him?

I wonder what he asked them? - Severence benefits?

Bames you said a mouthful there.

I would want some cash upfront, but the golf channel did make him sound
like he was a top caddie.

I dunno. I kind of agree with her firing the other guy. I mean she was DQ'd twice due to rookie mistakes. Shouldn't a good caddie have helped her avoid that happening?

Only if she listens. When I was 16, I don't think I listened to anybody.

Help, that's the main word there. I've never had a caddie, I've broken a rule or two, but I sit my arse down and read those rules before every tournament I play.

A caddie not only has to know the rules as mentioned, but needs to provide the psychology for the player at any given time. He needs to know when to back off, when to redirect, when to provide constructive criticism, when to motivate, etc.. I believe this is the type of relationship Tiger has with his caddy. When you can put a player into the right frame of mind during a round, the player (at least most should) will see the benefits. IMHO the caddie game is 90% psychology - 10% technical.

As for Wie, she is gonna have a difficult time for a while especially when faced with Annika, Lorena, Pat, and some Korean players I can't recall. I believe she needs assistance with the mind game.

Getting DQ'd for a simple blunder at the pro level is as bad a calling a TO in the NBA at the end of a game only to find out you have NONE!!!! It does happen. I guess it depends what other benefits the caddie provides before he gets the boooot. If he helped you win a couple of majors, he might be kept???
