Shaft Question for Lyle and R35
On that chart listing the frequency and DSFI values at full length. If you cut a shaft (not tip) to playing length (let's say 45") can you still use that chart to compare them? Or is this some deep mumbo jumbo only club makers will ever understand?
To explain further I happened upon the NVS stiff shaft at 45-3/4" on the launch monitor. The DSFI is 92 which is right on since I have between 95-107 swingspeed and 100 X .92 (medium transition) = 92 DSFI. Then the NVS stiff frequency is 251 so I thought I could just pick a VS Proto (example) 70 reg flex which is 246 frequency and 92 DSFI and be right in the ball park. PM'ing Lyle he said it would be different when cut so this is why I'm asking this question. I'd like to know more on how to pick your shafts using this chart if possible.
