Geek DCT Fairways

There really hasn't been any reviews of the DCT fairways from Geek so here we go.

I originally wanted to get a TEE CB1 but they are too much $ right now. I settled for the DCT fairways. I purchased a 3 wood with a CompNT 65 S and a 7 wood with a YS-7 X tipped. I went with the x because the stiff felt soft to me and I really did like that shaft. If it doesn't work right I have a ys-6 here to swap.

I played my first round with the woods today and all I have to say is wow. First impression was "Holy Crap, I didn't know that I would be performing demolition on the turf!" The heads on these things are really hefty. It took a few swings to get used to the head weight. The woods did great from any lie. I hit most of them out of the deep grass because, well, I could! I have to cut down the 7 wood as I don't like the length to it. Great trajectory and a VERY HOT FACE! I was repeatedly hitting 250 give or take 10yards from the turf. Two par 5s which I have always been short on with the old clevelands rolled over the greens in two. Holy CRAP! They really compliment my swing as I was hooking the offset Clevelands.

Good review.

I agree...I actually had TEE'x in my bag and the Geek DCT kicked them out of the bag...the TEES are extremely long...and the DCT's are very close in length...but MUCH easier to manuver, work better in rough and very, VERY forgiving.

Steve Almo spend a couple years designing these heads...and even scraped a prototype run because they were not "perfect".

Which these are.

I just played another 18 and my 3 wood was kicking my driver's a$$. It such a great club and I am more confident that ever off the tee.

Its a great feeling being able to pickup your tee 3 seconds after you've hit your ball. Aint going nowhere but straight.

I had the original TEE 3 wood, and tried replacing it with a DCT 3 wood. What I found was that the DCT was a dynamite club off the tee, but I didn't like the sole grind nearly as much as the TEE. The DCT sole is very flat, and I found that it was much less forgiving off the fairway, unless the lie was perfect. I've gone back to my TEE 15 degree 3 wood.

How much did you pay for the Geek set up if you don't mind me asking?

You can PM me if you'd rather not post it.

I just had a DCT 3 W built for me, in response to this thread, and my success with the DCT driver.

I had it shafted with an Accuflex Icon, the Icon v2 being my choice in the driver (v2 is lighter).

I LOVE the setup. I didn't really have any success with the TEE/ProforceV2, but I love the DCT3. I thought it would be tough off the fairway, because it looks a lot taller than the TEE. But the few times I've used it off the fairway, it's been stellar. Missed a par 5 green in 2 by about 10 feet from 250 yards away. GREAT sound.

My only complaint....

Magnetic headcover for a steel fairway wood. Not really that practical.

I bought the 3w off ebay with a CompNT in it for $60. It was brand new but the owner didn't like the weight of the head. I wasn't a fan of that shaft and put ys-6 in. Love that combo off the tee. Then I bought the 7w head from victory for 59 and 15 for the ys-7 shaft so were talking 75 beans.

Nice.

Sounds like a good deal, hopefully a shop around here will have one so I can demo it.

I love it, but imho 'forgiving' is a very broad term. They are compared to say a Sonartec, but certainly aren't when compared to a Ping for example. I love mine, wouldn't swop it for the world, but if any high handicapper is out there thinking this is a forgiving head, I say no
