Wilson Di9 Irons

The Wilson Rep was at the course on "Demo Day" today, so I stopped after my round and tried out the new Wilson Di9 irons and Fybrid 3-wood. The irons had graphite shafts, which I've never liked..............before this. The heads are beautiful as are the looks of the entire club. When I hit them, I was skeptical that they could be as easy to hit as my G10's, but gave them a try. I was IMPRESSED. They were as easy to hit as my Pings, only longer, and straighter.
As for the Fybrid 3-wood, it also was easy to hit............and went right on target. Felt good also, and matched my TM for distance. The amazing thing about this club is the price. $80...............and comes with UST Proforce V2 shaft. The Rep said "The best value in golf".............and I have to agree.
Those were the only two Wilson products I tried out, but all of them were very easy on the eyes. IMO Wilson has really come out strong this year.

Re: Wilson Di9 Irons

I was mentioning the Di7 on another thread. Wilson is the most underrated OEM IMO. The Di7/Ci7/Pi7 were all outstanding clubs and great value. The Ci7 in particular are one of the best mid-low handicap clubs you will find. If I was in the market for a new set they would be what I would get. I think the Ci7 are the best looking clubs of the Wilson range too.

I have seen the Di9s in shops and they look pretty nice. They superceded the Di7 so if they are an improvement they will be a very nice club indeed.

Re: Wilson Di9 Irons

I have a set of Di7's that I got a couple of years ago, in the middle of the season before last. I love them and everything that is being said about them is true: very underrated, extremely easy to hit, great price. They look great, feel great, and instill lots of confidence standing over the ball.

For some reason, Wilson golf clubs in general end up beneath the radar. If you're in the market for some new irons, it's definitely worth putting these on your list to try for yourself.

If they're good enough for Padraig Harrington, they're good enough for me!

Re: Wilson Di9 Irons

I'm glad to hear that about the Fybrid...I've really been contemplating getting one because they're SO flippin' cheap, I just haven't seen many reviews of them. You may have just sealed the deal for me =]

Re: Wilson Di9 Irons

A good golf review site I go to is : GolfReview.com - Golf Equipment Reviews Alot of user reviews and it's cool because the person (hopefully somewhat honest) says what their handicap is in their profile so you can equate to your own game.

Re: Wilson Di9 Irons

Well...........right now my handicap is 19. I should get it down around 10 by the end of the year. Sorry if my review isn't up to their (GolfReview.com - Golf Equipment Reviews) standards.

I hope I didn't offend sssmokin'; I just meant that alot of different handicappers use alot of different gear on there. It's nice to see what someone who shoots about what I do thinks of something I'm checking out so I can get a feel for the gear relating to scoring. I gravitate the most towards the ones who are roughly in the same group as I am.

Another thing too that's nice about them is that the shafts are 3/4" longer than standard and the lofts are also. So what you will read in alot of reviews is guys clubbing down at least a club (maybe even more) based on that.

As you said, you really like what you tried out at the Demo Day and if you do decide to get them, you will not be disappointed.

Re: Wilson Di9 Irons

i've always read good stuff about these clubs, but the topline and funky shafts always made me look at something else.

No offense taken, just was tossing out my view of the Di9s. The shafts were graphite R flex and they were 1º upright.....standard length. For trying out the clubs I got two free sleeves of Wilson ZIP balls. They really suck.............LOL.

Hehehehehe thi is the funnist comment I've heard in this forum

Anybody knows if thee is an plan on bringing some C9s or something like that? The D9 are really really good looking irons, but I guess the price tag has gone now to match competition rather than staying lower as W/S used to be...

Re: Wilson Di9 Irons

I'd say to hit some at a pro shop or 'real' store and see if you like them. I got my Di7s brand new off Ebay for like $150 or something like that. I love 'em...

Re: Wilson Di9 Irons

I have the Di5's and they are also very easy to hit as well as LONG and straight. The lofts are stronger which explains the distance. Sweet spot is hard to beat on them.

Re: Wilson Di9 Irons

I took the Pi7's out a LOT on the range last summer, struck the ball stunningly but the shape of the head just didnt fill me with confidence.

I was very close to buying them but ended up getting some used X-20 Tours cheap, might even have to go back and revisit the Wilsons for comparison with the Callaways.

Also, those Ci7's look quite nice, might have to give those a shot to...
