Thread: Zero friction tees

  1. Zero friction tees

i bought a package of these to see if there is any diff.from reg tees.although ive only played them for 18 holes on a strange course.these things add major distance.just kidding dont know for sure becuse the course was hard as hell and i got alot more roll than im used to.

but i can say this much for them on a course were u need a hammer and a 16 to get a hole started for your tee i never broke a single tee.had the same one all day(except par 3`s didnt use them to tall).my league partner who dosent brake many tees broke 5 today.so if they dont add any distance atleast you wont have to buy as many tees.

will try them in league Tuesday to see if i notice any distance increase or ball flight difference.

Agree withe ZF tees. Every now again one will break on me and when it does it just becomes my FW/iron tee. I bought a bag a couple of years ago and I've barely made a dent in it.

    Re: Zero friction tees

I found one on a tee box once, used it, that ball went about 300 yards into the woods and the tee was no where to be found.....

That was my one and only experience with those tees....

    Re: Zero friction tees

I don't like the prongs, sometimes it's hard to put the ball on them, especially when I'm shaking from drinking too much.

Kidding aside, I use the Epoch tee's almost exclusively. They don't hardly bend, rarely ever break unless the ground is hard as hell, and I hit way way close to the ground and snap them. They help on hard tee boxes, but I don't have that problem all that often it seems where I play. Distance wise, who knows. I don't care about any of that.

For $7, a bag, I get close to 50 tee's I think it is. I paid $18 online and got 3 bags of them. I haven't even put a close dent in the first bag, 2 are sitting in the closet, and I usually lose the tee's before I end up breaking them. I have one tee that I've used for 8 rounds so far. It looks like hell, discolored, and has chewed up a bit, as I'll even use it on par 3's and push it all the way into the ground.

Best value I think. I put 1 in my pocket and one in the cart, and I have enough tee's for the entire day.

Same here. Epoch tees are all the things that Zero Friction tees are and more.

I buy the bags with the 3-1/4" and 1-1/2" tees. I use the shorties for par 3's, they work great.

I also started pushing them way down in the ground then pulling them up which loosens the tee ground a bit. Haven't broken one since. Normally when I hit my tee shot the tee will end up a few feet directly behind where the ball was teed. Occasionally I'll lose one but they generally last until I lose them, maybe 8-10 rounds or more.

I've tried them all and IMO these are the best non-wood tees made.

Thats the same bag I buy. The longer tee's are nice, and the short ones are perfect for par 3's or using a hybrid/fw wood on the shorter par 4's. I also push mine in, and then pull back up, and it helps to keep from breaking and bending them.. They did have some issues with the shorter ones, the 2 3/4" I believe snapping really easy.

If I hit it and it pops out, generally like you said, it's a few feet behind me on the tee box.

A nice private course around here, has them in a basket on the first tee to use, and in the carts. Keeps the litter from broken tee's all over the tee boxes, and generally, people will pick their tee up to re-use instead of leaving it like I've seen others do. Good for the course, and my wallet I say.

You mean you don't tie a piece of string around the tee and attach the other end to your ankle so they're easier to find?????

    Man, you're crazy!

I found one once, seemed to allow me to hit better drives, must've all been in my head though cos it all turned to shit in the next round. It's now broken and MIA

  11. Re: Zero friction tees

I have played both the epoch and zero friction tees. The short tees by epoch are really nice for par 3s, but other than that I didn't see much if any difference between them. It will be a long long time until I need more tees. My dad and brother who both have a bit shaky hands had trouble with the zero friction tees setting the ball on them, but I haven't noticed any difficulties. I don't think they give you any extra distance but they do last a heck of a lot longer than wood tees. They are worth it IMHO.

    Re: Zero friction tees

Good to know I'm not the only one with some shaky hands sometimes and have trouble getting the ball to settle on the 3 little prongs. I've also put them in without a ball on top already and had them cut into my thumb.

    Epoch> Zero Friction.

All I use are the zero friction tees. Don't know if they help with distance etc., but they rarely break, and I just plain like them. They are hard to tee the ball up on when you have the shakes though..........but I just plod on.

If you get a chance, try the Epoch Tees. More durable than ZF tees and ball stays on them much better.

I got tired of my ball falling off Zero Friction tees here in the wind (and YG refused to hold the ball with his finger like a kickoff in football :laugh so I finally tried the Epoch Tees and love them.

    Re: Zero friction tees

Get them off eBay. They are much cheaper. I haven't found them in any stores other than Golfsmith, and it's even hit or miss there.

Don't bitch about the price, because a bag of those tee's should EASILY last you a good golf season, and you will have some left. I used half a bag.. and I have tee's scattered in 4 bags, 2 cars, and my home and office.
