Thread: Titty Spinners

  1. Titty Spinners

Got my 54 and 58 pair during the week and took them out for a "spin" LOL at the range today. They were used and abused by a 2 h/c and probably score a 8.5 outa 10. Nice Dual Durometer grips and DGS300 pipes.

    Anyway I've (temporarily) swapped them out from my Clevelands 53, 56 and 60 (2 CG10s and a 588). And?

Well I have to say they are nice but nothing terribly special. I seemed to get similar spin to the Clevers and the feel was similar.

My main experiement here is to consolidate 3 wedges into 2. I'll keep em in the bag for a few weeks anyway and welcome back Mr. 2 Iron in the bag. He's been out in the cold far too long.

Oh yeah, I'm also holding onto the CG10s for a while.
Doctors say that you should eat 5 pieces of fruit or veg a day to remain healthy. Last week I ate 5 mouldy plums and that night I shat the bed. What's healthy about that?:shocked::shocked:

Please keep us posted b/c I have been considering a switch from CG10 to the spin milled as well.

SM are amazing wedges, they feel so much more solid then any other wedge ive played.

  4. They defiantly feel harder then my old Cleveland 588 but its not a bad wedge. I used a TSM 56 the last year and a half. I just didn’t like the feel around the greens with it so I’m switching back to a Cleveland CG10 58*. I will admit I was kind of a sucker for the marketing I wanted to get my ball to check and spin better. At the time I made the switch to the TSM I was using Titleist DtSoLo’s and the spin I was getting from the TSM was the same as my 588. Last year I switched to ProV1x balls and I could get the ball to check and spin backwards a lot better. The type of ball you play makes a bigger difference in the amount of spin then the wedge has,but I'm sure most of you already know this.

  5. OK, so I've experimented some more. I am really getting to like these puppies.

They sit nice and I seem to get some nice feedback off the face. I have played a variety of shots, especially the low punch shot (my favorite shot) from about 40-70 yards into a breeze. Light grip, ball back in stance, weight on left side, firm left wrist at impact, low curtailed follow through and smooth rhythm. Both the 54 and 58 are responding well. Two bounces and screetches to a halt.

Like I said, there is no more noticeable spin than the CG10s or 588. The biggest advantage has been to free up a slot in the sack for my 2 iron.

I call that a skip-stop. I'm finding it tough to hit with the grind on my MP-R's fricken ball won't stay down. I dropped one of those shots with a slight fade on it for an eagle from 70yds. with my old Mizzy. I'll give them a few months an go back to MP-T's if they don't work out. CG's were also something I was looking at. Not sure I like the high bounce on those and the Vokey's though. Plus once I get into the cost of new CG-10's or Vokey SM oilcan's, wedges like a Scratch,Miura,Fourteen ect. get more and more looking affordable.

That shot you described above is also one of my favorites. Sounds like this club works well with it. Does it "eat up" balls like everyone says? Looking at the face and grooves I can't see it would be any different then other wedges.

I find provs get eaten up like when theres steak around me. Provxs are a little more durable with the SM for me. But for some reason, provs, HXTours, and bridgestones just get torn to shreads. The balls of my choice (provx, one platinum and Strata TL-Tour) seem to last a little longer.

The ones I got were used for a season, so probably were quite as sharp on the mills. tbh I haven't really noticed so far, the majority of my work has been on the range. Usually see the cover still in the grooves and I haven't noticed too much of this so far. Time will tell.

I play ProV1X and the cover is a bit former on these than the ProV1
