Thread: Travel & Course Review???

  1. Cool Travel & Course Review???

    Sling,
How come there isn't a separate forum for golf travel and course reviews? Would love to hear of other member's travel experiences, course reviews and recommendations. Think it would be a great forum for Shot Talk.

  2. Hmmm....interesting first post.

Short answer... no one ever mentioned it before.

Those posts have traditionally gone into the Shot Talk forum.

A longer answer is that I try to keep the forum size down as much as possible. I despise sites that put up a separate forum for every conceivable subject as it makes navigation so much more difficult (I know a fishing forum that has well over 50 available forums and I use only 3).

However, I think you're right about this and I probably should break out a travel forum.

    Welcome aboard by the way.

  3. This is a great idea.

Would like to see the forum broken down into subforums by state/province and country for abroad if possible

    Cleveland Launcher Steel 15* NVS 75 S
    Bridgestone J33U 21* Aldila NV 85H S

    Cleveland 588 RTG 51*
    Titleist Vokey SM 54*
    Titleist Vokey SM 58*
    Slighter Custom Bellevue Prototype
    Titleist ProV1

  4. I've seen this done on other sites, but it really becomes a big project to set up I imagine. Golfboards.com used to do it by state. I think a simple "Course Reviews and/or Trip Reports" forum would do the trick, at least to start off.

  5. Sling,
Any further thought on a travel thread? A lot of people split for the winter and probably have some good recommendations and advise to share.
    Thanks for the consideration.

  6. I'll get it done after I get the server sorted out.

  9. Slingy,

Remember that map that shottalkers could dot themselves on? Perhaps we can incorporate that into the course review section. If I'm going to whateverzipcode in Virginia, it'd be a quick way to look up listed reviews of courses in that area. Something like that

    Yes but......

The people, it seems, are never satisfied.

  12. Just trying to think of something I haven't seen elsewhere, oh glorious Fuhrer. I sorta think GolfLink.com has this aspect cornered. Perhaps you could strike up some kind of deal with them. It'd be a neat addition.

Keep in mind I have little to no knowledge of the interaction between websites and such. It's probably obvious

  14. Sling,
Thanks big time for getting the travel forum up. Just posted some of my notes to get it started.

  15. No problem.

To be honest, I dragged my heels on this because I wanted a demonstration from you that you'd be here awhile, not just drive by posting.

I'm satisfied and you have your forum.
